In today’s society, the most common way for people to search for job opportunities is by using the internet on their personal electronic device, whether it be a laptop, desktop, tablet, or mobile phone. There are hundreds of websites and mobile applications catering to all kinds of career services in a plethora of fields. One specific sector of employment that is rather unique is the creative field. Creative positions are posted on their own websites like Behance, AIGA, Coroflot, etc. Since these niche websites exist, there are also hundreds of articles discussing how creative individuals approach the job searching process. …
Trans-Species Transcriptomic Comparison Of In Vitro And In Vivo Neural Cells, Peter Loverso
Trans-Species Transcriptomic Comparison Of In Vitro And In Vivo Neural Cells, Peter Loverso
Theses
RNAseq has recently evolved into a powerful tool for the analysis and comparison of different cell types within and across organisms, and allows for accurate, reproducible measurements of the transcriptome of these cells. Here, RNA from three different neural cells types (oligodendrocyte progenitor cells, neurons, and astrocytes) in rats (R. norvegicus) are grown in vitro then sequenced and aligned to the rn5 genome assembly. Furthermore, RNA from two different human (H. sapiens) neural cell types (neurons and astrocytes) grown in vitro were also sequenced and aligned to the hg38 assembly. An in vivo dataset of RNAseq reads was identified from …

Jewish Games For Learning: Renewing Heritage Traditions In The Digital Age, Owen Gottlieb
Jewish Games For Learning: Renewing Heritage Traditions In The Digital Age, Owen Gottlieb
Articles
Rather than a discontinuity from traditional modes of learning, new explorations of digital and strategic games in Jewish learning are markedly continuous with ancient practices. An explication of the close connections between traditional modes of Jewish learning, interpretive practice, and gaming culture can help to explain how Jews of the Digital Age can adopt and are adapting modern Games for Learning practices for contemporary purposes. The chapter opens by contextualizing a notion of Jewish Games and the field of Games for Learning. Next, the chapter explains the connections between game systems and Jewish traditions. It closes with a case study …

In the Dominican Republic, women have traditionally been molded to be housewives, obey men, and not to interfere with men's issues/matters (Duarte, 2009). As in other countries, this has changed over the years as more women succeed and achieve many accomplishments in society, but it still is present to some level in different places and circumstances across the Dominican Republic (Press, 2010). This study was conducted with the objective of gathering information of the Dominicans' perception about the profile of Dominican women as leaders and their roles in society. Based on the interviews inMujeres Extraordinarias: Mujeres en el tiempo, mujeres …
Robust Recognition Using L1-Principal Component Analysis, Matthew Johnson
Robust Recognition Using L1-Principal Component Analysis, Matthew Johnson
Theses
The wide availability of visual data via social media and the internet, coupled with the demands of the security community have led to an increased interest in visual recognition. Recent research has focused on improving the accuracy of recognition techniques in environments where variability is well controlled. However, applications such as identity verification often operate in unconstrained environments. Therefore there is a need for more robust recognition techniques that can operate on data with considerable noise.
Many statistical recognition techniques rely on principal component analysis (PCA). However, PCA suffers from the presence of outliers due to occlusions and noise often …

The rapid market shift to multi-functional mobile devices has created an opportunity to support activity recog- nition using the on-board sensors of these devices. Over the last decade, many activity recognition approaches have been proposed for various activities in different settings. Wearable sensors and augmented environments potentially have better accuracy, however performing activity recognition on user mobile devices has also attracted significant attention. This is because of less requirements on the environments and easier application deployment. Many solutions have been proposed by academia, but practical use is limited to testbed experiments. In 2013, Google released an activity recognition service on …
Numerical Investigation Of Interfacial Mass Transport Resistance And Two-Phase Flow In Pem Fuel Cell Air Channels, Mustafa Koz
Numerical Investigation Of Interfacial Mass Transport Resistance And Two-Phase Flow In Pem Fuel Cell Air Channels, Mustafa Koz
Theses
Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are efficient and environmentally friendly electrochemical engines. The performance of a PEMFC is adversely affected by oxygen (O2) concentration loss from the air flow channel to the cathode catalyst layer (CL). Oxygen transport resistance at the gas diffusion layer (GDL) and air channel interface is a non-negligible component of the O2 concentration loss. Simplified PEMFC performance models in the available literature incorporate the O2 resistance at the GDL-channel interface as an input parameter. However, this parameter has been taken as a constant so far in the available literature and does not reflect variable PEMFC …
