The present work aims to study the inhibition performance of new organic inhibitor namely ANTD “2-amino-5-(4-nitrophenyl)-1,3,4- thiadiazole” on corrosion of mild steel (MS) in HCl environment at the concentration of 1.0 M through using weight loss techniques. Weight lost measurements demonstrates the presence of a film on MS surface in existence of organic substance. The inhibition performance of ANTD at various concentrations for mild steel increases with increasing concentration and with an increased in the immersion time and decreased with raising temperatures degrees. The optimal inhibition efficiency of (ANTD), 82%, was achieved for mild steel when immersed with the highest …

The coupling effect of coating and inhibition has been investigated in the present work. polypyrrole coating with adding coumarin was applied on carbon steel to protect it against corrosion. Electropolymerization process by cyclic voltammeter was carried out in 0.2M oxalic acid electrolyte containing 0.1M pyrrole monomer without and with 0.01M coumarin as an eco-friendly inhibitor. SEM/EDS, AFM and FTIR techniques were used to identify the coating film. Corrosion test using Potentiostat was achieved for uncoated and coated specimens and the results indicated that the corrosion potentials became nobler compared with uncoated specimen, this means that the anodic sites were covered …

Engineering and Technology Journal
Gas hydrate is a crystalline solid compound form of water with hydrophobic gas at certain conditions (pressure and temperature). The hydrogen bond in water molecules constructs a framework as a host that entraps gas molecules (gust). Gas hydrate can be applied to many industries such as gas separation, cool storage, food concentration and desalination. Hydrate route looks a promising alternative technology compared to the conventional process, by utilizing a proper gas host, which can be held within water cavities composed by hydrogen-bonded water molecules. In this study the selected host gas was Refrigerant R134a, the work consists of an experimental …

New Accurate Wattmeter Based On Logarithmic Amplifiers, Azzad Saeed
Engineering and Technology Journal
Analog Computers can realize most of mathematical equations; these equations can be solved using difference, adder, logarithmic, anti-logarithmic, integrator, and differentiator amplifiers. The logarithmic and anti-logarithmic amplifiers are the main components of the analog computers, whereas, they can convert the multiplication and division operations to addition and subtraction ones, and they can convert the exponential functions to multiplication relationships. These amplifiers depend on the non-linearity of the relation between forward current and applied voltage of the diode. All of previous types of wattmeters, measure the consumed power of a specific load or resistor by multiplying the difference voltage of that …

Realization Of Direct Linear Relation Between Control Voltage And Resonance Frequency Of The Lc Voltage Controlled Oscillator, Azzad Saeed
Engineering and Technology Journal
The main problem of traditional LC ( L represents the inductance, and C represents the Capacitance) Voltage Controlled Oscillators VCOs, is the non-linearity relation between the tuning control voltage and output resonance frequency, which is caused by two following reasons: the first one is the inverse and non-linear relation between the tuning control voltage and produced capacitance of the used varactor diode in the VCO circuit, and the second is the inverse and non-linear relation between the capacitance value of the used varactor diode and the output resonance frequency. In this paper, a proposed circuit has been designed and implemented …

Drag Reduction Study Of Xathan Gum With Polydiallyldimethylammonium Chloride (Pddac) Solutions In Turbulent Flow, Zainab Yousif
Engineering and Technology Journal
The transportation of liquids through pipelines is attributed with high-energy consumption due to the turbulent nature of their transportation. Low concentrations of polymeric additives were proven effective flow enhancing agent when injected into these pipelines due to its viscoelastic property capable of suppressing the turbulent structures; however, the mechanical degradation of polymers is a disadvantage, which can be controlled efficiently by using complex in a surfactant- polymer interface. In this presented work, turbulent drag reduction (DR) efficacy of anionic Xathan gum and nonionic surfactant (PDDAC) regarding the surfactant -polymer interface was studied using a rotating disk apparatus (RDA) technique and …

Engineering and Technology Journal
Recently the researchers go to the eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors. In the present investigation, isatin which found in many plants, Isatis tinctoria,Calanthe discolor and Couroupita guianensis has been used as corrosioninhibitor. An isatin-aniline compound, namely ethyl 4-amino-N-(3-isatinyl)benzoate (AIB), was successfully synthesized in high yield and its inhibitionimpact on corrosion of MS (mild steel) in hydrochloric acid as corrosivesolution was examined via weight loss and Scanning electron microscopetechniques. The results acquired appeared that AIB has employ perfect as acorrosion inhibitor at low concentrations towards mild steel in HCl bath. Theimpact of temperature on the corrosion behavior of MS in corrosive bath withpresence of …

In this work, four series of glass-ceramic coatings were developed and applied by using the dipping technique to cast iron sheets. The influence of different types of crystallization agents (Li2O, TiO2, ZrSiO4, and CaO.Al2O3.2SiO2) was investigated in relation to the mechanical features of the coatings. The resultant coating is characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis. The properties of micro-hardness and adhesion strength are evaluated using suitable standard tests. The X-ray analysis of resultant coatings showed the existence of some of crystalline phases formed depending on the type of the crystallization agent. The results also indicated that the coating properties were strongly …
