The Difference Edid Incubation Makes, Charlie Wall-Andrews, Oana Branzei

Dismantling Bias Conference Series

This paper informs allyship in times of crisis. Through positive effects of EDID incubation during one of the most challenging periods for the music industry suggest that social institutions that explicitly promote allyship can mitigate the stronger downside of the pandemic on socially marginalized groups. Because DS Provider's followership can be interpreted as one aspect of allyship, the greater gains in followership relative to non-supported peers also support the critical role of EDID incubation in advancing allyship across gender, racial and socio-economic groups.

Multi-Omics Approach Reveals Dysregulation Of Protein Phosphorylation Correlated With Lipid Metabolism In Mouse Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver, Sora Q. Kim, Rodrigo Mohallem, Jackeline Franco, Kimberly K. Buhman, Kee Hong Kim, Uma K. Aryal

Department of Food Science Faculty Publications

Obesity caused by overnutrition is a major risk factor for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Several lipid intermediates such as fatty acids, glycerophospholipids and sphingolipids are implicated in NAFLD, but detailed characterization of lipids and their functional links to proteome and phosphoproteome remain to be elucidated. To characterize this complex molecular relationship, we used a multi-omics approach by conducting comparative proteomic, phoshoproteomic and lipidomic analyses of high fat (HFD) and low fat (LFD) diet fed mice livers. We quantified 2447 proteins and 1339 phosphoproteins containing 1650 class I phosphosites, ofwhich 669 phosphositeswere significantly different between HFD and LFD mice livers. …

Peru has shifted away from centralized mining management to governance among government, companies, and communities. Various mechanisms facilitate community participation, including the mining canon, dialogues, and corporate social responsibility programs. Even with these laws and mechanisms, mining pollution and conflicts continue. In this study, we ask: how do communities perceive and participate in mining governance? And what are some alternative ways, driven by community priorities, to address governance in mining contexts? We collected 53 semi-structured with agricultural actors in two Peruvian districts with mining activity and analyzed those perspectives through the lens of community-centered governance. Our analyses revealed how centering …

School of Mechanical Engineering Faculty Publications

The carbon dioxide removal assembly (CDRA) has been used for the past two decades to continually remove carbon dioxide (CO2) as part of the air revitalization system onboard the international space station (ISS). The CDRA is an adsorption-based system that relies on sorbent materials that require a significant energy input to be thermally regenerated. Additionally, the system faces challenges in reliability and size/weight, so it is being re-evaluated for viability beyond-lowearth-orbit missions. The CDRA removes CO2 from the cabin air through a cyclical adsorption-desorption process that uses four molecular sieve beds. The main components include two desiccant beds to remove …

Assessing Learning Processes Rather Than Outcomes: Using Critical Incidents To Explore Student Learning Abroad, Kirsten A. Davis, David B. Knight

School of Engineering Education Faculty Publications

There is an increasing emphasis on assessing student learning outcomes from study abroad experiences, but this assessment often focuses on a limited range of outcomes and assessment methods. We argue for shifting to assessing student learning processes in study abroad and present the critical incident technique as one approach to achieve this goal. We demonstrate this approach in interviews with 79 students across a range of global engineering programs, through which we identified 173 incidents which were analyzed to identify common themes. This analysis revealed that students described a wide range of experiences and outcomes from their time abroad. Students’ …
