The Development And Implementation Of A Mandatory Continuing Education Plan For The Louisiana State Board Of Nursing, Oswald A. Ferry

The purpose of this study was to develop a plan for mandatory continuing education for Registered Nurses in the State of Louisiana. This plan for mandatory continuing education was adopted by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing in September of 1990 as a requirement for the annual re-licensing of practicing nurses. The intent of this plan was to mandate Registered Nurses, through continuing education, to maintain their knowledge and skills in order to safely practice nursing in the State of Louisiana.

This Major Applied Research Project describes a process whereby policies and procedures were developed to correct and eliminate problems which resulted from the deficiency of certain policies in the Governance Manual of the Camden County Educational Services Commission of New Jersey in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
The present manual was developed in 1982 and was to be updated and/or revised by the Superintendent. However, due to the lack of expertise by the Superintendent and a uninvolved board of directors and instructional staff, procedures were never developed to implement those policies in the Governance Manual. Family Strengths Among Black Families In Alaska: A Case Study, Washington W. Brown Jr.

The idea of a strong family is a very subjective concept. A strength, according to one set of criteria, could easily be interpreted as a weakness according to another set of criteria--and vice-versa. Most scholars of the family would agree that a strong bond of affection between family members is usually an asset. But if this affection is manifested in extremely dependent and stifling relationships among family members, such a bond would generally be characterized as a "pathological" liability.

This practicum had four components. The first part involved assessing the current status of the science instruction at all grade levels in Union County. The assessment included investigation of teachers’ methods and procedures for teaching science, and their attitude toward science. The second component involved the continuation of the science lab at the writer’s school. The writer was responsible for assembling science materials from throughout the school, ordering new materials from school funds made available for the lab, preparing a science lab schedule for teachers kindergarten through grade five, and compiling an inventory list of lab materials for each teacher. …
