Pot Roasting Of Lead Ores, Ralph Robert Benedict, Edward Phillip Barrett, Frank William Harper
Pot Roasting Of Lead Ores, Ralph Robert Benedict, Edward Phillip Barrett, Frank William Harper
Bachelors Theses
"In this thesis for a starting point, we attempted a roast of straight galena with no diluent. As anticipated the results were nil. We next attempted the roast with a mixture of galena and silica, and obtained fair results. Our next experiment was to use limestone with the galena. Because of the large percentage of limestone present the results were not satisfactory. Next pyrites and limestone were used with the galena, and excellent results were obtained. We made another run, using pyrites and limestone, but increasing the per-centage of galena by 25%. This run was also very successful. From these …

Development Of Power On Little Piney River, James Duncan Fowler, Frank Leroy Flynt
Bachelors Theses
"Little Piney River has its source in the southern part of Phelps County, Missouri. Its general direction is north until its junction with Beaver Creek. Then it flows nearly due west and empties into the Gasconade River near Arlington, Mo. It drains an area of approximately two hundred square miles. The slopes of its drainage area being very steep, it is subject to large and sudden rises. As it is largely a spring fed stream its minimum flow is not far below its normal stage. The stream abounds in rapids with from a few inches to a foot or more …

The Effect Of Certain Minerals Upon The Volatilization Of Silver Chloride, Boyd Dudley Jr.
The Effect Of Certain Minerals Upon The Volatilization Of Silver Chloride, Boyd Dudley Jr.
Bachelors Theses
"The work undertaken in this investigation was first suggested in connection with the analytical determination of Silver and Chlorine by weighing silver chloride. Later, however, the experiments assumed a metallurgical character. The final purpose of the experiments was to determine the effect of a few of the common mineral constituents of ores on the loss of silver during a chloridizing roast. In the metallurgy of silver it is frequently necessary to change the silver bearing minerals into silver chloride"--page 1.

The Composition And Analysis Of Zinc-Lead Pigment, Evans Walker Buskett
The Composition And Analysis Of Zinc-Lead Pigment, Evans Walker Buskett
Professional Degree Theses
"Zinc is present as oxide and sulphate. There are also probably zinc and lead sulphites. It has been suggested that there may be carbonates in this pigment, but this is not probable as the high temperature of the furnace, the complete combustion of the fuel to CO2 and the large excess of SO2 gas in the bagroom would tend to prevent their formation. There is also a chemical combination between the zinc oxide and the lead oxide which is probably a zinc plumbate. Some light can be thrown on the subject by the following experiments:"--page 1.

Graphical Representation Of Compressed Air Formulae, John Thomas Vitt, Paul Andrew Philippi
Bachelors Theses
"Air during compression and expansion obeys the same laws as do other gases and these laws have been mathematically stated by purely rational formulae. Most of these formulae are logarithmic and their use involves a considerable amount of work. The object of this thesis is to present these formulae in such form that problems involving their use may be readily and easily solved. It was decided to present them graphically and the accompanying curves are the results of our labors"--page 1.
Efficiency Of Mill Practice In The Joplin District, Ira Lee Wright
Efficiency Of Mill Practice In The Joplin District, Ira Lee Wright
Bachelors Theses
"Milling in the Joplin District is, compared with the practice in other zinc fields, seemingly very crude. To one unacquainted with the peculiar conditions of this district, the amount of ore which goes into the tailing pile seems unnecessarily high. There are several things which account for the low saving made"--page 1.
