"After making a survey of the available information on the subject of permanent growth in grey iron castings, it was found that very little definite information is available and such as is available does not seem to satisfy all conditions. The encroachment of water in the pay horizons has not only trapped underground oil locally and caused a great loss of production, but unless the water problem was successfully combated the amount of water entering the pay may increase to the extent of flooding an entire field.
