I. SCOPE OF THIS REPORT All tests on the present series of 24 beams (series D and E) have been completed. In particular since the time of the 10th Progress Report the following tests have been carried out: Failure tests on eleven beams, viz. D-18-18-88a and b; E-18-14-88a and b; E-18-16-83a and b; D-18-14-88a and b; D-18-16-88a and b; E-18-12-816a. In addition further investigations have been made on the bottom flanges of the beams D-18-16-88a and b and E-18-12-816a.

I. SCOPE OF THIS REPORT At the present time failure tests are being carried out on the 24 beams series D and E. To date the following beams have been tested: D-18-16-816a and E-18-16-816a and b; E-18-14-816a and b; D-18-14-816a and b; E-18-12-816b; D-18-816a and b; E-18-18-88a and b; total - 13 beams. The failure tests on those beams are carried out in a way different from data used heretofore (see section II of the report). As a result very extensive data are obtained for each of these beams. I. SCOPE OF THIS REPORT 1. A.stress investigation has been made on beam E-18-12-816 b at the load points with 6 and 12 ft. span and center load and with 12 ft. span and quarter point load. 2. The results of these tests seem to show that, after the completion of similar tests on two more beams of the present shipment enough data will have been gathered to answer the question of stress distribution.
