Physical Properties Of Concrete At Early Ages, Peter G. Hansen
Physical Properties Of Concrete At Early Ages, Peter G. Hansen
Masters Theses
"One of the principal types of heavy duty pavements in use in Missouri and in many other states is that known as rigid type portland cement concrete.
There have been two major trends in this type of pavement design. One of these trends is the use of short slabs, i.e., 15 to 25 feet, with no reinforcement. Another trend consists of concrete slabs containing distributed reinforcement such as wire mesh or reinforcing bars with joints occurring at fairly large intervals of 50 to 100 feet. As loads on the highways have increased the designers have increased the slab thicknesses and …
Phase Relationships In The Quaternary System Lime-Titania-Zirconia-Silica, Robert Martin Gruver
Phase Relationships In The Quaternary System Lime-Titania-Zirconia-Silica, Robert Martin Gruver
Doctoral Dissertations
"The phase compatibility relationships for the quaternary system lime-titania-zirconia-silica have been determined by a solid-phase-reaction technique.
Preliminary division of the system into Alkemade tetrahedra was based on the phases found in samples by X-ray diffraction analysis. These samples covered the entire volume of the tetrahedron in a systematic fashion. When the quaternary system had been divided into regions or compatible phases, an analytical method was used to calculate the phase composition of each sample. The relative amounts of each phase in a sample determined by X-ray analysis were compared with the calculated quantities, and agreement between the two methods verified …

Engineer's Day
The Future Is NOW! . . .
The scene above is an experimental hydrogen bomb explosion at the AEC Pacific Proving Grounds. Practically unknown as recently as fifteen years ago, atomic energy is now a vital, universal force, shaping the lives of all mankind. Its frightening flash bursts across the face of our earth and gives us all cause for fear and wonder.
Yet we may hope, too. Patterns of world civilization are changing with bewildering rapidity. The scientific and industrial ways of yesterday are obsolete today. Tomorrow’s methods will show no less impact of change.
The world of science …
