Investigation Of Effects Of Cold Forming On Mechanical Properties, Kenneth W. Karren, George Winter
Investigation Of Effects Of Cold Forming On Mechanical Properties, Kenneth W. Karren, George Winter
CCFSS Library (1939 - present)
INTRODUCTION All of the divisions of this report consist of either experimental or theoretical investigations of the various aspects of predicting the magnitude and distribution of changes in the mechanical properties (particularly the yield strength) of coldformed members. The prior work performed under this project, was conducted to determine the changes brought about in the mechanical properties of structural sheet steels by (1) simple uniform uni-directional prestrain of varying amounts and (2) simple cold working caused by cold forming sheet into corners as is commonly done in light gage cold formed structural members. Included in this report are: a study …

The Performance Of Beams And Columns Continuously-Braced With Diaphragms, Gordon P. Fisher, S. J. Errera
CCFSS Library (1939 - present)
INTRODUCTION Under the general title of "Performance of Steel-Framed Buildings and Structural Members Braced with Light-Gage Steel Diaphragms", sponsored at Cornell University by the American Iron and Steel Institute, an investigation has been proceeding in two separate but closely interrelated phases, referred to as: Subproject A - Performance of Steel-Framed Buildings Braced with Light-Gage Steel Diaphragms Subproject B - Performance of Beams and Columns Continuously-Braced with Diaphragms. The investigation now referred to as Subproject B was sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction from June, 1961 to June, 1963 after which A.I.S.I. assumed sponsorship with the cooperation of A.I.S.C. …

A Ti-Hg Collision Cross Section, Edward E. Stepp, Richard A. Anderson
A Ti-Hg Collision Cross Section, Edward E. Stepp, Richard A. Anderson
Physics Faculty Research & Creative Works
The lifetime of the 63P1 state of Hg was observed as a function of Tl density at two different Hg pressures. From these data it appears that at high Tl densities the lifetime of the 63P1 state of Hg is controlled by collisions with Tl atoms. Using this assumption and simple gas kinetic theory, a cross section for these collisions was calculated.

A History Of The Department Of Military Science At The University Of Missouri School Of Mines And Metallurgy, Missouri School Of Mines And Metallurgy
History of the Military Science department, MSM
The University of Missouri was created on 11 February 1839 by the Missouri General Assembly, the first state University established in the Louisiana Purchase Territory. The Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, a division of the University of Missouri, was formally opened on 23 November 1871. Founded under the provisions of the Land Grant Act of 1862, commonly known as the Morrill Act, the School is obligated to offer Military Science in its curriculum.
Representative Justin S. Morrill of Vermont, the sponsor of the Land Grant Act, showed great vision and foresight, evidenced by the following extract from his speech …

On The Calculation Of Multicenter Two-Electron Repulsion Integrals Involving Slater Functions, Russell A. Bonham, Jerry Peacher, Henry L. Cox
Physics Faculty Research & Creative Works
Integral transforms are used to evaluate many-center two-electron repulsion integrals involving Slater s-type functions. The reduction of a general four-center integral of this type to a form convenient for computational purposes is presented. The technique described has the important advantage that all lesser many-center and one-center integrals can be obtained from the four-center case by proper choice of constants. The form of the result is such that simple single-precision numerical techniques yield rapid and accurate evaluations of many-center integrals. Several numerical examples are presented.

Generalized Programs For Heat Transfer Analysis., Ceylung Chu
Generalized Programs For Heat Transfer Analysis., Ceylung Chu
Masters Theses
"This report presents numerical methods for calculating temperature distributions in any physical system in which heat transfer is taking place. The syste.11 may be at either a steadystate condition or a transient condition. The temperature distribution may itself be or primary interest, or it may be used further to calculate the flow or heat or thermal stress.
The system under investigation is divided into a certain number of subdivisions, or so-called "regions". A reference point (node point) will be taken as representative for the region which includes that point. The temperature at the "node point11 is taken to be the …
Experimental Evaluation Of Thermal Stresses On The Outer Surface Of A Thick-Walled Tube., Vinodray T. Patel
Experimental Evaluation Of Thermal Stresses On The Outer Surface Of A Thick-Walled Tube., Vinodray T. Patel
Masters Theses
"In this investigation an attempt has been made to measure thermal stresses on the outer surface of a thick- walled tube. The inside surface was heated by steam passing through the tube while the outer surface was cooled by water. Two temperature compensated strain gages were used to measure strains in the tangential and axial directions respectively. The advantage of using this type of strain gage is to avoid the use of a dummy gage to compensate for the temperature effect.
The analytical solution to the problem was derived and the values of thermal stresses were calculated theoretically and compared …
