Nasonia is a parasitoid wasp genus that serves as an emerging model for studying speciation due to an incompatibility between nuclear and mitochondrial genomes between sister taxa. Short generation times, easy rearing in a lab setting, producing large amounts of progeny, and whole genome sequencing make Nasonia is an excellent candidate for studying incomplete reproductive isolation. Nasonia have five chromosomes and exhibit haplo-diploid sex determination in which fertilized eggs develop into diploid females and unfertilized eggs develop into haploid males. Recessive phenotypes are hidden in diploid females but are laid bare in haploid males as there is no interaction between …

This study seeks to determine the technical feasibility of fabricating reduced activation ferritic martensitic (RAFM) steel parts, using a wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) process. The WAAM process, manufactures a part by depositing layers of metal onto a substrate to build a large scale near net shape part. RAFM alloy steels are next generation steels designed to resist radiation effects in the radiation intense working environments, such as nuclear reactors. A study was conducted to investigate the low temperature combustion (LTC) regions of aerospace F24 and ULSD in the static setting of a CVCC and the dynamic setting of a CRDI research engine. This research is conducted to reduce in-cylinder emissions by understanding and implementing a technique to achieve an extended LTC. Emissions data for this study were collected during the operation of the CRDI research engine with a MKS 2030 FTIR and an AVL Microsoot 483. Catharism was one of the most influential and consequential movements in southern France and northern Italy during the medieval period. This article traces the history and main ideas of Catharism, arguing that the Cathar beliefs, rituals, and conceptions of death were the most threatening aspect of the sect to the orthodox Catholic church and is what inevitably led to the majority of their followers being systematically executed.

Race, Class, And Populism: Thomas Watson And The Fall Of The Agrarian Ideal, Max Bouratoglou

This article reconsiders the politics and political transformation of the Georgia Populist Thomas E. Watson (1856-1922), focusing specifically on the years from 1894 to 1896. Watson began his political career committed to a multiracial agrarian democracy in the epoch of Jim Crow and the New Departure Democrats. While historians have considered his shift from multiracial organizer to self-proclaimed white supremacist, many have failed to correctly point to the defining years precipitating this shift, which coincided with an abandonment of his radical agrarian policies as well. This collection consists of the personal papers of Lieutenant Leroy N. Suddath, Sr. during his service in the U.S. Army during World War I from 1917-1918. Materials include a handwritten diary and a bound book of reproduced letters from Suddath to his wife, Lucille Howle Suddath. Also included are diary transcripts and digital reproductions of created in 2022.
