Optimal Orientations Of Vertex-Multiplications Of Trees With Diameter 4, Willie Han Wah Wong, Eng Guan Tay
Optimal Orientations Of Vertex-Multiplications Of Trees With Diameter 4, Willie Han Wah Wong, Eng Guan Tay
Theory & Applications of Graphs
Koh and Tay proved a fundamental classification of G vertex-multiplications into three classes ζ0, ζ1 and ζ2. They also showed that any vertex-multiplication of a tree with diameter at least 3 does not belong to the class ζ2. Of interest, G vertex-multiplications are extensions of complete n-partite graphs and Gutin characterised complete bipartite graphs with orientation number 3 (or 4 resp.) via an ingenious use of Sperner's theorem. In this paper, we investigate vertex-multiplications of trees with diameter 4 in ζ0 (or ζ1) and exhibit its intricate connections with …

Biology: Faculty Publications
Course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) are laboratory courses that integrate broadly relevant problems, discovery, use of the scientific process, collaboration, and iteration to provide more students with research experiences than is possible in individually mentored faculty laboratories. Members of the national Malate dehydrogenase CUREs Community (MCC) investigated the differences in student impacts between traditional laboratory courses (control), a short module CURE within traditional laboratory courses (mCURE), and CUREs lasting the entire course (cCURE). The sample included approximately 1,500 students taught by 22 faculty at 19 institutions. We investigated course structures for elements of a CURE and student outcomes including student …

Implicit Bias And Explicit Bias : Thinking About What We Think About, Gregory W. Brown
Implicit Bias And Explicit Bias : Thinking About What We Think About, Gregory W. Brown
National Youth Advocacy & Resilience Conference
This topic is close to my heart. As a former alternative school principal I have seen what happens when we recognize our biases and are able to change our perspectives as it pertains to our students. We are in fertile ground amongst the chaos of the landscape in education right now. We have to introspect in order to be truly effective.
Reconnecting The Disconnected: Using Culture To Redefine Education For Students Who Drop Out Of School, Nichole Murray
Reconnecting The Disconnected: Using Culture To Redefine Education For Students Who Drop Out Of School, Nichole Murray
National Youth Advocacy & Resilience Conference
How do we reconnect students who have dropped out of school to educational programs? In this interactive workshop, we examine some reasons why students who are homeless drop out of school and how to link them back to education programs by using culturally responsive initiatives. Furthermore, we will discuss optimizing support services to help students earn their post-secondary credentials.
