This is a multicultural study of culture adaptation, language challenge, identity formation, and power struggle -"CLIP"- depicting three Arab students who have attended or are currently attending a University in the rural South East Region of the United States of America (circa 2009-2010) When Arab students go to college in the United States of America, two cultural extremities (East and West) meet and attempt to form relationships; two different languages, Arabic and English, written in opposite directions search for a middle page to help them communicate. Value Of Professional Sport Teams In The Community: Reexamining The Measurement Properties Of The Community Impact Scale, Dae Hyun Kim, James J. Zhang, Yong Jae Ko

Journal of Applied Marketing Theory

The Community Impact Scale was developed by Zhang et al. (1996) to measure essential value dimensions of professional sports in the community. The original scale includes 45 items under eight factors (Community Solidarity, Public Behavior, Social Equity, Pastime Ecstasy, Health Awareness, Individual Quality, Excellence Pursuit, and Business Opportunity). To further ensure its usefulness for theoretical and practical applications, this study re-examined measurement properties of the scale through conducting a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Polynitroxylated Pegylated Hemoglobin: A Novel Neuroprotective Hemoglobin For Acute Volume-Limited Fluid Resuscitation After Combined Traumatic Brain Injury And Hemorrhagic Hypotension In Mice, David K. Objective: Resuscitation of hemorrhagic hypotension after traumatic brain injury is challenging. A hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier may offer advantages. The novel therapeutic hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier, polynitroxylated pegylated hemoglobin (PNPH), may represent a neuroprotective hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier for traumatic brain injury resuscitation.

Hypotheses: 1) PNPH is a unique non-neurotoxic hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier in neuronal culture and is neuroprotective in in vitro neuronal injury models. 2) Resuscitation with PNPH would require less volume to restore mean arterial blood pressure than lactated Ringer's or Hextend and confer neuroprotection in a mouse model of traumatic brain injury plus hemorrhagic hypotension.

Advisement and Scholarship Promoting Inquiry-based Research Experiences in STEM (ASPIRES) at Georgia Southern University is a comprehensive, strategic project that will increase the number of students graduating with bachelor's degrees in STEM fields. Five action items address two interrelated goals: (1) to increase retention of STEM students and (2) to improve academic success in science and math courses. The project ended in 2012.
