This thesis is an attmept to define the dependence contextual approach. This approach argues that national development is an international problem that should be studies from an international perspective. It also asserts that development and underdevelopment are functionally linked (i.e., the development of one nation may be a cause of the underdevelopment of another and vice versa).
This approach is utilized to examine the national development of Brazil since independence in 1822 to 1980. Dependence writers propose that Brazil’s national development can be categorized into three stages. Those are 1) the era of export economy (1822-1930); 2) the period of …

The purpose of this field study is to gain experience and knowledge of the duties of a business administrator of a school district.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The specialist candidate will be working with the business administrator of Centralia High School during the second semester of the 1980-1981 school year. Centralia High School is a secondary school district with an enrollment of 1500. The person will aid the business administrator with the following duties:

The purpose of this field study was to develop an enrichment program for the sixth grade students at Forsyth Grade School. The major areas of concern addressed in this study were:
- to arrive at a working definition of the gifted student.
- to analyze why the 1980-81 6th grade class, and Forsyth students in general, appear to score higher than average on achievement and I.Q. tests.
- to develop a means of identifying gifted students in the areas of math, science, and language arts.

The purpose of this field study was to develop a coherent, comprehensive, and codified policy and procedures manual to propose for adoption by the South Eastern Special Education Joint Agreement District. Prior to completion of this field study there existed no single source of reference for policies established by the Governing Council of South Eastern Special Education. Also, procedures meant to govern operation of the district, administrative directives, and forms affecting students and personnel were neither organized nor available in one convenient place.

The Effects Of N-Serve On The Availability Of Urea And Ureaformaldehyde Nitrogen On Lolium Perenne L., Ronald E. Schroll

Laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the effect of "N-Serve" (DOW) on the availability of urea nitrogen and the subsequent greening effect on perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) seedlings as compared to the availability of nitrogen and subsequent greening from a controlled release ureaformaldehyde fertilizer. A low organic matter sandy loam soil and a high organic matter clay loam soil were used in this study. Soil treatments of urea and ureaformaldehyde fertilizers were applied and incorporated at concentrations of 0, 25, 38, and 50 ppm-N. N-Serve at concentrations of 0.25, 0.50, and 1.0 ppm active ingredient were applied and …

The purpose of this field study was to develop a health curriculum for grades kindergarten through tenth grade of Teutopolis Community Unit School District #50. The reasons for developing this health curriculum were:

This paper deals with curriculum evaluation. It specifically follows the process adopted by a medium-sized rural school district in taking an introspective look at its instructional program.
The reader observes the instrument utilized in this process, the role of the educational consultant serving as a facilitator, and the interaction of the various constituents of the educational community as the study progresses.

The purpose of this study was two-fold. The first was to investigate the gerontological educational background of persons presently working in the field of aging. The second purpose was to determine if there was a need for and interest in further training, and if so what particular topics the respondents would find most critical to their interests or beneficial to their work. The subjects were fifty-four persons involved in serving the over sixty-five population in a ten county area within the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging, Area Five.

The purpose of this study was to develop and implement a youth program in a minority "model neighborhood" area located in a low-income tract in Peoria, Illinois. There were approximately forty youth served from June through November, 1980. A journal was kept during this time, reflecting the interaction among the youth coordinator, the youth and their parents, and the staff of the agency, Common Place. The journal revealed the process of developing and implementing program in Common Place's "model neighborhood". Statement Of The Problem
There were two sets of problems which were of focal interest: (1) Did the achievement levels of the students selected come up a significant degree? (The administration wished a month's gain for a month's instruction.) (2) Did the children's personality and behavior characteristics change for the better?
Procedure
The design used was a one-group pretest-posttest design. Achievement, behavior, and personality traits were measured on the original sixteen children and in remaining ten who were still in the classes after two years.
