Cmos Current Mirrors With Reduced Input And Output Voltage Requirements, Vladimir I. Prodanov, Michael M. Green Jan 1996

Cmos Current Mirrors With Reduced Input And Output Voltage Requirements, Vladimir I. Prodanov, Michael M. Green

Electrical Engineering

A CMOS current mirror with lower than VDS(sat) input voltage requirement is presented. It is shown that the structure can be modified to provide cascode-type output resistance for output voltages even lower than 2 VDS(sat). The topology of the proposed current mirror allows low distortion operation from a single 1.5V supply, which makes it attractive for low-voltage applications.

Armature Position Sensor For A Relay, G. Stephen Perreira, Richard L. Kutin, Lanny V. Griffin Jan 1996

Armature Position Sensor For A Relay, G. Stephen Perreira, Richard L. Kutin, Lanny V. Griffin

Biomedical Engineering

A sensor for use with high-power solenoid-actuated relays, and for detecting and signalling relay armature position and hence the actuation state of the relay. The sensor is external to a sealed chamber in which the relay contacts and armature system are positioned, and includes a permanent magnet, the flux path of which includes the relay armature and base. Armature movement to close the relay alters the flux path to operate a reed switch adjacent the magnet, and the condition of the reed switch signals the unactuated or actuated state of the relay.

Descriptions Of Immature Stages Of Trupanea Nigricornis And T. Bisetosa (Diptera: Tephritidae) From Southern California, Khouzama M. Knio, Richard D. Goeden, David H. Headrick

Horticulture and Crop Science

The immature stages of the sympatric, cryptic species Trupanea nigricornis (Coquillett), a flower head-infesting fruit fly that attacks a wide range of hosts in the Asteraceae in southern California, and T. bisetosa (Coquillett), an oligophagous congener that attacks only a few hosts in the tribe Heliantheae, are described and illustrated. Detailed examination with the aid of scanning electron microscopy of the eggs, all 3 instars, and puparia of this taxonomically closely allied generalist and specialist revealed many similarities and very few differences, for instance, most puparia of T. nigricornis were shorter and narrower than those of T. bisetosa. Therefore, …

Comparative Biologies Of The Cryptic, Sympatric Species, Trupanea Bisetosa And T. Nigricornis (Diptera: Tephritidae) In Southern California, Khouzama M. Knio, Richard D. Goeden, David H. Headrick Jan 1996

Comparative Biologies Of The Cryptic, Sympatric Species, Trupanea Bisetosa And T. Nigricornis (Diptera: Tephritidae) In Southern California, Khouzama M. Knio, Richard D. Goeden, David H. Headrick

Horticulture and Crop Science

The biologies of the sympatric, cryptic species, Trupanea nigricornis (Coquillett), a flower head-infesting fruit fly attacking a wide range of hosts in 8 tribes, 33 genera, and at least 71 species of Asteraceae, and T. bisetosa (Coquillett), an oligophage attacking only 6 hosts in 4 genera of the tribe Heliantheae, are described and compared. A major biological distinction between these species was their ovipositional behavior, whereby females oviposited different numbers of eggs at different sites in different developmental stages of flower heads of their hosts. The larvae of these species showed minor differences in their feeding behaviors, and their puparia …

Asian American And African American Environments, Bradford Grant, Christopher L. Yip Jan 1996

Asian American And African American Environments, Bradford Grant, Christopher L. Yip

Architecture

This course explores the history, aesthetics and development of Asian American and African American places, and views them from the perspective of their subcultural environmental patterns. It focuses on how patterns of living among these groups are developed and represented in the environment. The course explores the intersection of environmental design and cultural studies which suggests that ethical, social and cultural considerations are as important as material and technique in the creation of environments. The goal is to develop an appreciation of the role of ethnic diversity in shaping and giving meaning to the built environment.
