Investigating The Influence Of Container Design And A Bulge Reduction Technique In Corrugated Fiberboard Containers Under Static Compression, Jay Singh, Koushik Saha

This study explored the bulge effect in corrugated fiberboard boxes caused by excessive weight, leading to compromised stacking strength and potential product damage. It investigated how container design, specifically the height variations of regular slotted containers (RSCs), affects bulging under compression and its vulnerability to environmental conditions. Testing met ASTM standards, with samples conditioned according to ASTM and TAPPI protocols, revealing that changes in box height influence bulge displacement. Subsequent research examined the impact of top-to-bottom static compression loads on bulging in tape-reinforced RSC designs, evaluating bulge reduction and compression strength across various tape placements and environments. In An Animal’S Shoes: Facing Animal Suffering As A Difficulty Of Reality, Konstantin Deininger

This paper examines the challenges posed by confronting the topic of animal suffering in animal husbandry. The predominant positions within animal ethics mainly focus on the moral status of humans and animals, arguing that killing farm animals is morally wrong due to specifiable intrinsic properties that grant farm animals significant moral status. Such positions are derived from a detached perspective that advocates for rational consistency. This paper opposes this detached perspective. By drawing on Cora Diamond’s concept of a difficulty of reality, it contends that facing animal suffering, including changing one’s habits and attitudes towards this suffering, is instead best …

This study unpacks how leader humility and charisma are related to leader effectiveness and satisfaction with the leader and examines how the need for leadership may moderate these relationships. We used data from 252 respondents from Russian companies in a 2 (high vs. low leader charisma) × 2 (high vs. low leader humility) vignette design in which levels of charisma and humility were manipulated. While leader humility was found to have a positive effect on satisfaction with a leader, no significant link between leader humility and leader effectiveness was observed in this study. Microbiology has a relatively brief history where significant discoveries are often linked with major events in human history - from disease outbreak to industrialization to climate change. The founders of key microbiological principles span across continents, genders, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status. However, the portrait described in many introductory textbooks center around a lone, typically white male scientist. Such narratives not only are misleading regarding the development of key principles in microbiology but can also reinforce inappropriate stereotypes as to whom belongs in microbiology.
