There have been a few studies related to the religion education movement of the Reorganized Church, but little has been done to research the total program of the Department of Religious Education and its development.
The purpose of this study was to trace the historical development of the religious education program of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1860 to its present organization as the Department of Religious Education; to summarize the church's philosophy of education; and to determine the present status of the Department of Religious Education of the Reorganized Church.

The purpose of this study was two fold: (1) to determine if there was a significant difference in attitude toward the church and certain of its teachings and practices between those who were pressured into taking seminary and those who enrolled because they wanted to and (2) to compare the change in attitude of the students who were pressured into seminary with the change in attitude of the students who were not pressured into seminary after completing their first year.

The "History of the Danish Mission, 1850-1964," gives a detailed account of the Mormon "beginnings" in Denmark and attempts to trace the development of a system of proselyting and its effect upon the lives of both missionaries and converts of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. No attempt has been made in this study to record chronological detail to any extensive degree. Rather, emphasis has been placed on "beginnings" and major historical developments.

The article gives a brief overview of China and Japan's relations with each other and with Western powers, such as American's Open Door policy. Communism seemed to offer solutions to the frustrated citizens of postwar Malay, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Setting itself up opposite Western imperialism, Communism became a vehicle for nationalism. It also provided a way for seizing power and encouraging industrialization. Those interested in Communism included students, intellectuals, and the peasant and working classes. The aspects that appealed to each group varied, but all saw Communism as a way to escape from their individual and societal problems.

Temperature, one of the most influential factors controlling the growth and distribution of plants, was measured during a three month summer period within several stands of vegetation. The stands represented four distinct plant communities: sagebrush-grass, mountain brush, aspen, and conifer. Measurements were obtained by a sucrose inversion method which gave exponential average or effective mean temperature (eT) values. Registerants, small glass vials filled with a sucrose-buffer solution, were placed in the air 10 decimeters above the ground level and in the soil 1, 5, and 10 decimeters below the ground level. The Manning Canyon Shale on the eastern slope of Lake Mountain in Utah County, Utah contains an Early Pennsylvanian flora within its upper shales. Many of these fossils appear to be new species. A microscopic study of the tissue remains can be of value in the further classification of these fossils. Selected fossils were macerated in hydrofluoric acid, and the residues were examined microscopically for tissue remains. Objects identified as fossil tissue remains were found in twenty five of the forty-eight specimens examined. Fibers, fiber tracheids, tracheids, and spores were isolated from fossils identified as Calamites. The spores were possibly …

The results of this study show that section Gilmania (genus Gilia) consists of only two species G. latifolia and G. ripleyi, which are well separated from the rest of the members of genus Gilia by their simple, aristately toothed, obovate to orbicular leaf blades, many, small, brilliant rose, salverform corollas, basally inserted, stout-filamented stamens, and 30 to 100 small, reddish-brown, oval seeds per locule.

The Role Of Thiamine Pyrophosphate In Regulating The Level Of Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid In The Central Nervous System, Bryant L. Adams

The level of gamma-aminobutyric acid in the brains of white rats suffering from thiamine deficiency symptoms resulting from pyrithiamine or oxythiamine antagonism of thiamine or from thiamine deprivation was measured. The level of this amino acid was 17.5% lower in the brains of pyrithiamine-treated rats and 20.0% lower in the brains of thiamine-deprived rats than in the control rats. Daily injections of ten times the required amounts of vitamin B6 in rats treated with pyrithiamine or oxythiamine or by thiamine deprivation had no effect on the level of brain gamma-aminobutyric acid or on the psiological behavior of these rats. Despite the great number of published works that deal with English prosody or the more restricted subject of versification, there is a noticeable scarcity of studies that describe the practices of individual poets. One of the more apparent reasons for the meager number of versification studies is the instability of the basic criteria by which a poem is examined.
