Wellness is defined as an Active Process of Individual Choice. The article presents a conceptual model of general programming ideas (elements of individual control) and motivational techniques (elements of influence).

Employee wellness programs will vary from company to company but the basic concept is to change employee attitudes toward their own health and well-being.

A rapidly aging society has focused attention on retirement and retirement related issues. Educating individuals to plan for retirement is one of these issues. Leisure Behavior Of Recent Retirees: Implications For Pre-Retirement Planning, Barbara Wilhite

Changes in leisure behavior after retirement were examined using present and retrospective reports of participation. Seventy-five retirees responded to a three part questionnaire. Analysis revealed considerable continuity in leisure behavior from before to after retirement with overall low frequency of participation. Changes occurring in activities and patterns were interrelated. Significant changes were related to health, population, transportation, income, and life satisfaction. Implications for pre-retirement planning are discussed.

In 1982, the Soviet Union implemented the Group for Psychological Support in order to meet the psychological, sociological and recreational needs of their cosmonauts on extended space missions. In 1985, the Space Human Factors Team was developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to address the psychological, architectural and engineering issues of crew performance on American space missions. In order to recognize all the factors in socio/psycho dynamics, and develop a holistic training program for space crews, a leisure component for these extended missions should be included in the United States research projects.

John Naisbitt's (6) High-Touch High-Tech concept and Frederick Herzberg's Motivation-Hygiene theory were analyzed and extended into a marketing strategy that's applicable for parks and recreation professionals. The marketing strategy referred to as a Happiness Marketing Model offers a counterbalance between high-tech and high-touch by providing a conceptual base to emphasize the intrinsic benefits inherent in participating in recreation and leisure activities.
