Profile Of Peripheral Arterial Disease In Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus – A Hospital-Based Observational Study In Coastal Karnataka, E. Arora, H. Korada, T. Devasia, Rama Bhat

Open Access archive

INTRODUCTION: Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) is one of the common non-invasive diagnostic tools available for diagnosing Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). However, it has been observed that for an individual diagnosed with both PAD and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), ABI tends to give false diagnostic value because of the calcification of the major lower limb arteries. Therefore, the health care professionals are at times misled for the diagnosis of PAD. To overcome this another diagnostic tool Toe Brachial Index (TBI) was suggested to perform. However, there is limited literature on performing both ABI and TBI in the given population in …

A polynomial can represent every function from a finite field to itself. The functions which are also permutations of the field give rise to permutation polynomials, which have potential applications in cryptology and coding theory. Permutation polynomials over finite rings are studied with respect to the sequences they generate. The sequences obtained through some permutation polynomials are tested for randomness by carrying out known statistical tests. Random number generation plays a major role in cryptography and hence permutation polynomials may be used as random number generators.

Though the automation in modern process plants has reduced overall functioning cost, monitoring process for detecting abnormalities is still a challenging task. In this direction, data driven fault detection (FD) methods are commonly applied as they rely purely on historical data collected from a process. Since most practical data are non-gaussian in nature, Independent Component Analysis (ICA) strategy has found to be the right way for non-gaussian process monitoring. To determine faults, generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) has been merged with other data driven approaches. In this paper, we propose a FD strategy where ICA is used as modeling framework …

The Bacterial Quorum Sensing Signal Dsf Hijacks Arabidopsis Thaliana Sterol Biosynthesis To Suppress Plant Innate Immunity, Tuan Minh Tran, Zhiming Ma, Alexander Triebl, Sangeeta Nath

Open Access archive

Quorum sensing (QS) is a recognized phenomenon that is crucial for regulating population-related behaviors in bacteria. However, the direct specific effect of QS molecules on host biology is largely understudied. In this work, we show that the QS molecule DSF (cis-11-methyl-dodecenoic acid) produced by Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris can suppress pathogen-associated molecular pattern-triggered immunity (PTI) in Arabidopsis thaliana, mediated by flagellin-induced activation of flagellin receptor FLS2. The DSF-mediated attenuation of innate immunity results from the alteration of FLS2 nanoclusters and endocytic internalization of plasma membrane FLS2. DSF altered the lipid profile of Arabidopsis, with a particular increase in the phytosterol …
