Property, Title And Debt In Sale Of Goods, M.G. Bridge

Recently, the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in The Res Cogitans held that a contract for bunker fuels that allowed for consumption prior to payment and contained a 'reservation of title' clause was not a contract of sale under the Sale of Goods Act. By creating a new category of sui generis supply contracts, the Supreme Court stripped away the various statutory protections associated with sale of goods rules. This decision is expected to have far-reaching consequences for commercial contracts. This article analyses the decision of the Supreme Court in light of these consequences. The substantial ownership and effective control requirement in the civil aviation sector has witnessed significant changes in the recent past. This article examines the Indian Government's policies that seek to further liberalise such requirements. In this context, it seeks to answer whether the unilateral relaxation of nationality requirements by Indian regulators would be in the interests of the Indian aviation market. The apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4) allele is associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer disease and a decreased risk of glaucoma, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we found that in two mouse glaucoma models, microglia transitioned to a neurodegenerative phenotype characterized by upregulation of Apoe and Lgals3 (Galectin-3), which were also upregulated in human glaucomatous retinas. Mice with targeted deletion of Apoe in microglia or carrying the human APOE4 allele were protected from retinal ganglion cell (RGC) loss, despite elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). Similarly to Apoe retinal microglia, APOE4-expressing microglia did not upregulate neurodegeneration-associated genes, including Lgals3, following …

Smicromorpha Girault (Hymenoptera: Chalcididae) is distributed in the old world tropics and subtropics from Australia through New Guinea, Southeast and South Asia. Since its original description in 1913 conclusive evidence of its host has been lacking although it has been collected in association with weaver ants (Oecophylla spp.; Formicidae: Formicinae) either in proximity to ant nests or, on one occasion, reared from one. In this paper we report the presence of Smicromorpha pupae within the gaster of Oecophylla longinoda workers from a nest collected in coastal Kenya. From Indians In Trinidad To Indo-Trinidadians: The Making Of A Girmitiya Diaspora, N Jayaram

This book explores the dynamics of the socio-cultural baggage that Indian indentured migrants took with them to the Caribbean island of Trinidad and how they have since become a vibrant diaspora community, namely the Indo-Trinidadians. It combines social history with first-hand fieldwork data to portray human ingenuity in terms of social reconstitution and community building in a hostile socio-cultural environment. Furthermore, it addresses key social institutions—religion, caste, and family—and cultural elements—language, foodways, and ethnicity. Its analytical framework is guided by the concept of metamorphosis; it steers clear of the persistence versus change hypotheses. Given its focus, it will be of …

Loggerhead Sea Turtle Hatching Success Study Data, John Carroll

These data were collected as part of the loggerhead sea turtle hatching success study which examined the role of different environmental parameters on hatching success on Ossabaw Island beaches in Georgia, USA. Field data collected includes nest ID, lay date, inventory date, location, dune strike and dip, elevation, eggs in clutch, incubation period, chamber depth, vegetation cover, sediment moisture content, distance to high tide line, number of washovers, nest temperature, and the numbers of hatched and unhatched eggs at the end of the incubation period. The dataset also contains Rcode for the structural equation modeling used in this study.

Kizuna: Bonds Beyond Incarceration (Summer 2022)
On December 7, 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, escalating pre-existing racist views towards Japanese immigrants and Japanese American citizens. The “yellow peril” concept, accusing Japanese Americans of threatening the “white race”, led to restrictive immigration, naturalization, and property ownership laws. On February 19, 1942, Executive Order 9066 tore 122,000 Japanese Americans, including 55 University of the Pacific students, from the lives they knew. Their stories enlighten us about this tragedy and the strength needed to endure it.
