The presence of moisture beneath the pavement surface is a matter of great concerns as it is responsible for significant distresses such as asphalt concrete (AC) stripping, fatigue cracking, rutting, and poor durability of asphalt mixes. The objective of this study was to evaluate and recommend an asphalt mixture design that would provide superior performance against AC stripping and cracking. To achieve this objective, a laboratory test factorial was developed to evaluate the use of nanomaterials, emerging anti-stripping agents, warm-mix asphalt technologies, and adhesion promotors. Zigbee is widely adopted as a resource-efficient wireless protocol in the IoT network. IoT devices from manufacturers have recently been affected due to major vulnerabilities in Zigbee protocol implementations. Security testing of Zigbee protocol implementations is becoming increasingly important. However, applying existing vulnerability detection techniques such as fuzzing to the Zigbee protocol is not a simple task. Dealing with low-level hardware events still remains a big challenge. For the Zigbee protocol, which communicates over a radio channel, many existing protocol fuzzing tools lack a sufficient execution environment. This research represents findings from an ongoing project analyzing the contemporary value of Figurative Realist Painting, i.e. the artistic depiction of the true-to-life human body. Despite its historical significance, I believe the art world lacks contemporary interest in Figurative Realist Painting due to three major phenomena. 1. The invention of photography in 1840 decreased the value of Realism in painting. 2. Abstract painting thus dominated American Art in the 20th century. 3. Contemporary art philosophies allow such wide definitions of Fine Art that traditional methods garner less critical interest.

Monitoring the environment for target events that trigger prospective memory (PM) retrieval requires cognitive resources, reflected by costs to ongoing task performance (i.e., worse accuracy and/or slower response times). Strategic monitoring refers to the use of context to engage or disengage monitoring when a PM target is anticipated or unanticipated. Laboratory strategic monitoring studies have found mixed results as to whether context specification improves PM performance. This study employed a meta-analytic technique to assess the overall effect of context specification on PM performance and ongoing task metrics of strategic monitoring. Transnational Technical Communication: English As A Business Lingua Franca In Engineering Workplaces, Amy Hodges, Leslie Seawright

Recent scholarship argues for increased attention to students' linguistic diversity and intercultural communication competence. Our study examined the experiences of 10 working engineers who had graduated from an English-medium international branch campus in the Arabian Gulf. An analysis of their interviews reveals the complex role of English as a business lingua franca (BELF) in workplace communication. Interviewees' reflections about their university experience indicate that they had not previously understood the full rhetorical and communicative nature of BELF. We provide implications for instructors who wish to provide methods that center intercultural professional communication and decenter English as a standardized, static language.

Locations of 74,755 vascular plant vouchers representing 2,425 species were digitized into a spatial database from the Atlas of the Vascular Plants of Utah (Albee et al. 1988). Source maps consisted of 1:6,000,000-scale shaded relief maps of Utah with points representing collection locations by species. Location points, representing 1 or more specimens, were transposed onto these maps from the approximately 400,000 herbarium records of 3 major universities and federal land management agencies.

This dataset is the largest cross-organizational set of streamflow monitoring metadata, with information about over 33,000 non-USGS monitoring locations. This catalog includes streamflow monitoring metadata across 32 organizations, including 2,661 continuous gaging locations, 586 of which are active, which is more than twice the number of USGS gages in the region (723, in 2021), and over 30,500 discrete measurements. This catalog was developed through extensive engagement with individuals in various water management roles across the region.

They include documents from The Public Papers of the Presidents of the United States, George W. Bush; transcripts of television news shows on ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, and NBC; and contemporaneous public opinion polling. All documents are from the 9/11/2001 to 3/19/2003 timeframe. Students and faculty can jointly play a role in how Open Educational Resources are created and deployed by assigning students to expand Wikipedia pages. By producing re-usable OER materials, these assignments provide students with transferable research skills and collaborative learning opportunities, face-to-face or remotely. By taking part in the production of open-access materials, students practice sharing knowledge with a larger community and receive feedback from interested readers beyond their instructor and classmates. Delay: The Next "D" Factor In Travel Behavior?, Reza Sardari, Jianling Li, Raha Pouladi

Empirical research on the impact of congestion on travel behavior remains limited. This study fills this gap using a comprehensive analytical framework, an improved time-related travel delay measure, structure equation modeling, and the disaggregated household survey data for the Puget Sound Region. The results indicate that travel time delay is associated with fewer household vehicles, fewer vehicle trips, and lower vehicle miles traveled. The findings confirm the intricate impacts of the travel time delay, reinforce the importance of the “D” factors in travel behavior, and point to the need for comprehensive solutions to travel demand management.
