Design work from the 2000 spring semester, Studio Martin Price, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Arlington. Casino. Katherine Galpin. An indoor skiing attraction is the enticement to lure gamblers to the casino and hotel, and set it apart from competing casinos. Spatial, visual, and visceral excitement is essential for Las Vegas, and key to the success of any project. Lifts arrive at the top of a torqued-formed meandering enclosure containing three separate ski trails. The trails are divided into beginners, intermediate and advanced, determined by the steepness and relative difficulty of twists and turns. At the bottom …

Study Of Dispersal And Diversity Of Eriophyoid Mites (Acari: Eriophyoidea), Shifu Zhao

Eriophyoid mites represent a major, agriculturally important group of mites. The knowledge of dispersal biology and species diversity of eriophyoids is very limited, because their tiny body size makes observation and study difficult.;The current method of using sticky glass slides or plates to sample airborne eriophyoids is inefficient and inappropriate. A new method using water pan traps and vacuum-filtration proved far superior to the previous method.;A three year investigation using the water pan sampling method resulted in a total of 8,131 airborne eriophyoid specimens, 60.6% of which were collected from the roof of a 40m high building. The exhibition, monsters under the bed is a representation of what occurs when the bedroom lights are turned on and monsters, born from childhood fear, refuse to retreat into the shadows. Cartoon illustrations of physical and mental martyrdom point to the theme of death, as seen through the psychical dysfunction of a child. monsters under the bed, is an autobiographical exploration of adult reflection about a child's world translated into objects of theatrical mythologies.;In order to make my objects and images materialize, I incorporate a broad range of traditional and non-traditional mixed-media techniques. Parturition Hormone In The Tsetse Glossina Morsitans: Activity In Reproductive Tissues From Other Species And Response Of Tsetse To Identified Neuropeptides And Other Neuroactive Compounds, Jan Žďárek, Ronald J. Nachman, David L. Denlinger

Parturition hormone (PH) activity is present not only in the uterus of the tsetse Glossina morsitans but also in the oviducts of Bombyx mori and Schistocerca gregaria, as well as the ejaculatory duct of S. gregaria males. Activity thus appears to be present in the reproductive ducts of diverse insect taxa. To determine whether any the common insect neuropeptides are capable of mimicking the effect of PH, 35 identified neuropeptides and analogs were evaluated for PH activity. Modest PH activity was observed for only high doses of proctolin and a pyrokinin analog, thus suggesting that PH is unlikely to be …
