Background: Secondary hypertension is characterized by an elevated blood pressure greater than 140/90 mmHg, which occurs as a consequence of other diseases. The common etiologies of secondary hypertension include renal parenchymal causes, endocrine disorders, and vascular pathologies like coarctation of the aorta (CoA). Case presentation: A 20-year-old patient was admitted to our hospital as he complained of headache and palpitations since one week. On examination, the blood pressure in his right upper limb was 180/100 mmHg. The volume of the femoral and the dorsalis pedis pulses was found to be reduced bilaterally. The patient was started on antihypertensive medication labetalol …

A chain graph is a bipartite graph in which the neighborhood of the vertices in each partite set forms a chain with respect to set inclusion. By extending the concept of nesting from a bipartite graph to a kpartite graph, a k-nested graph is defined. The half graph is a chain graph with no pairs of duplicate vertices. Similarly, the ’k-half graph’ is a class of k-nested graph without any duplicate vertices. We study some spectral properties of a k-half graph. We prove that a k-half graph on kn vertices has exactly n main eigenvalues, and there are 2k downer …

Palmaris longus is a highly variable muscle of the forearm. Knowledge of its variability is of importance to plastic surgeons, hand surgeons and radiologists. During our routine dissection classes for undergraduate medical students, a peculiar palmaris longus muscle was noted in the left upper limb of an adult male cadaver. The muscle had a fleshy belly in the middle and two tendons: a proximal and distal. The distal tendon of palmaris longus gave origin to a variant fleshy slip of muscle which was inserted partly to the pisiform bone and partly merged with the hypothenar muscles. The ulnar nerve and …

Facial emotion detection is crucial in affective computing, with applications in human-computer interaction, psychological research, and sentiment analysis. This study explores how deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) can enhance the accuracy and reliability of facial emotion detection by focusing on the extraction of detailed facial features and robust training techniques. Our proposed DCNN architecture uses its multi-layered design to automatically extract detailed facial features. By combining convolutional and pooling layers, the model effectively captures both subtle facial details and higher-level emotional patterns. Extensive testing on the benchmark Fer2013Plus dataset shows that our DCNN model outperforms traditional methods, achieving high accuracy …
