This case report describes the treatment of transverse maxillary deficiency using a Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander (MARPE) appliance. MARPE is an innovative non-surgical appliance designed to expand the maxillary arch through skeletal and dentoalveolar modification.

Functional Bowel Disorders (FBD), including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), are highly prevalent gastrointestinal conditions classified as Disorders of Gut-Brain Interactions (DGBIs) under the Rome IV criteria. These conditions, marked by abdominal pain, altered bowel habits, and significant psychological comorbidities, present substantial challenges in both diagnosis and treatment. Conventional therapies primarily target gut-centric mechanisms but often yield limited efficacy, underscoring the need for approaches that account for the complex interplay of the gut-brain axis in DGBI pathophysiology.

In 2018, library faculty at a large, public land grant university formed a working group tasked with assessing the information needs of graduate students and implementing action plans to support this user population. From the beginning, the librarians recognized that graduate students are not a homogeneous group. Desiring a more nuanced understanding of these students, they held focus groups in 2019 to explore students’ experiences with navigating graduate school and, more specifically, the University library. One sub-group of particular interest to them was international graduate students, who make up a sizable percentage of the graduate student population on campus. International …

Studies have shown that Learning Communities have many benefits, including “[f]ostering workforce skills, encouraging problem-solving skills, and increasing retention and success” for both faculty and students (Dodge and Kendall, College Teaching, 2004). In this project, we created an interdisciplinary Learning Community Project that allowed a Freshman Composition (FC) course to pair with a Digital Media (DM) course (Sophomore students) for students to work on a mini magazine. Students in FC were writers whose tasks focusing on writing and researching, whereas students in DM were copy editors whose tasks focusing on graphic design and layout. The goal was for students …

As the ability of generative AI to produce image, video, and audio deepfakes grows more sophisticated, disinformation will become even easier to spread and harder to detect. This presentation will draw on a case study in which a recent graduate of a user experience design (UXD) program was able to apply UXD principles and research practices to increase the discoverability of training materials used by a library consortium. The case study presented will demonstrate to educators and students the importance of learning how UX laws can inform best practices for development, assessment, and iteration of digital spaces. Attendees will learn how laws/heuristics drawn from UXD play a critical role in ensuring that resources are accessible, intuitive, and engaging.

At the time of this SUNYLA mid-winter meeting, the City University of New York enters Year 2 of a three-year, 2-million-dollar Mellon Foundation-funded project to explore and strengthen archival collections across their 30+ libraries and research institutes. A major part of this project is to set up a shared instance of Archives Space that includes every repository across the university. This panel will explore the approach of a working group whose goal is to integrate 18 existing individual ArchivesSpace instances into a shared, multi-repository instance. This research project performs a rhetorical analysis of a series of articles published by Answers in Genesis in order to develop a greater understanding for how the science denial of Young Earth Creationism operates in online media. The research ultimately seeks to demonstrate the manner in which Answers in Genesis employs a patterned usage of a variety of recognizable rhetorical devices in its argumentation as a means of attempting to frame its religious claims as properly scientific and to continue to propagate science denial in its online content.
