On January 15, 2015, archeologists from Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Environmental Affairs Division-Archeological Studies Branch conducted a reconnaissancelevel survey of 3 acres of a five acre tract adjacent to State Highway 317 in Bell County, north of the City of Belton. The property will be excavated for a stormwater retention pond. The survey found shallow rocky soils and exposures of limestone bedrock throughout the project area. In conjunction with the proposed construction of the southwest segment of State Highway 45 in southern Travis County, the Texas Department of Transportation sponsored archeological testing and data recovery efforts at the Ransom Williams farmstead. Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted an interdisciplinary community-based historic archeological study of the farmstead from 2005 through 2011. Extensive archival research reveals that the 45-acre farm was owned and occupied by Ransom Williams and his wife Sarah, both former slaves, from about 1871 to ca. 1905. Atkins was contracted by the City of San Antonio (COSA) to perform cultural resource investigations of the proposed Indian Creek II (CIMS) Drainage Improvement Project in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. Covering an area of 40.36 acres (16.33 hectares), the project would improve localized flooding within the 100-year floodplain by creating overflow channels, and in some locations, by deepening and widening the existing channel bottom. On October 28 and 29, 2014, an intensive pedestrian survey was conducted of four portions of the project area, totaling 17.79 acres (7.24 hectares). Raba Kistner Environmental, Inc. was contracted by Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc., on behalf of the San Antonio River Authority, to perform an intensive archaeological pedestrian survey of the Lower Segment of San Pedro Creek. The northern boundary of the project area is the South Alamo Street Bridge, and the southern boundary is the confluence with Apache-Alazán Creek. The project area consisted of a 70- ft wide corridor along the center-line of San Pedro Creek. The field investigations were conducted over the course of three days in June of 2014. This report documents the results of an archeological survey conducted on behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation, Dallas District, for proposed construction of a new segment of Loop 288 that would extend from IH 35E north of Denton to IH 35E at Vintage Boulevard south of Denton (CSJs 2250-02-013 and 2250-02-014). The road project involves construction of new location roadway for a distance of approximately eight miles. From April to June 2014, personnel from Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted an archeological and historical resources survey for Camino Real Fuels, L.L.C., of the North American Coal Corporation and the Dos Republicas Coal Partnership (DRCP) within 1,460 acres of land at the Eagle Pass Mine in Maverick County, Texas. The archeological survey resulted in the discovery and documentation of 16 previously unrecorded sites. Of the 16 sites, 15 are prehistoric Native American sites, and 1 is an artifact scatter associated with a complex of ruinous buildings. This report documents the substantive findings and management recommendations of a cultural resource inventory conducted by Integrated Environmental Solutions, LLC (IES) for the Bear Creek Industrial Phase I project in Euless, Tarrant County, Texas. As the project will occur on the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport property, the DFW International Airport will need approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to modify their Airport Layout Plan (ALP) to reflect the permanent alterations. This is considered a federal action and will subsequently require compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). In …
