Evolution Of Time Constructs And Their Impact On Socioeconomic Planning, F. Gregory Hayden
Evolution Of Time Constructs And Their Impact On Socioeconomic Planning, F. Gregory Hayden
Department of Economics: Faculty Publications
The primary focus of the institutionalist perspective is instrumentalist problem solving. Problems are delivered by the institutional process and solved by altering the social structure. To solve socioeconomic problems, planning is necessary. Important to any planning is the question of when actions and events are to occur. To effect new social structures, actions and events must be properly sequenced. An analytical core of sequencing events is time analysis. John R. Commons stated that, in addition to knowing what to do, the economist who has the power and responsibility for planning "must know what, when, how much and how far to …

Why A College Of Communication And Fine Arts?, Richard R. Ranta
Why A College Of Communication And Fine Arts?, Richard R. Ranta
Association for Communication Administration Bulletin
This article examines the rationale for creating a College of Communication and Fine Arts, using the case of Memphis State University as an example. It argues that combining communication and fine arts disciplines into one administrative unit provides advantages in administration, creativity, and efficiency. A separate college allowed norms for faculty loads, facilities, and nontraditional scholarly activities to be judged fairly, rather than against inappropriate benchmarks from larger arts and sciences colleges. The structure also fostered cooperation among previously competitive departments, leading to joint projects in theatre, journalism, music, and visual arts. Examples include collaborative media productions, shared photography facilities, …

Nato Battlefield Strategy For The Conventional Defense Of Central Europe, Patrick Joseph Geary
Nato Battlefield Strategy For The Conventional Defense Of Central Europe, Patrick Joseph Geary
Master's Theses
Although we live in a time in which strategies using nuclear weapons dominate the attention of most defense analysts, there are reasons why more attention should be paid to conventional defense strategy. This thesis explores NATO's strategy for defending Central Europe with conventional battlefield weapons. The discussion centers on the military and political complexities involved in the strategy of Forward Defense. Included also is a brief history of NATO, highlighting the political and military events that helped shape today's conventional defense arrangements. Particular emphasis is placed on illustrating the methods and factors involved in the implementation of Forward Defense.

The Anchor, Volume 99.17: February 25, 1987, Hope College
The Anchor: 1987
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.
