The Kingship Of Yahweh As A Motif For The Universal Savior In The Old Testament, Pyeng Seh Oh
The Kingship Of Yahweh As A Motif For The Universal Savior In The Old Testament, Pyeng Seh Oh
Doctor of Theology Dissertation
The aim of this dissertation is, however, to establish the peculiar function of the Kingship of Yahweh as found in His Universal Saviorship.
In order to understand the Kingship of Yahweh, we shall first examine kingship in the Near East, particularly in Egypt and Mesopotamia. This study is made possible by the discovery, deciphering, and publication of Near Eastern texts. As the reader will notice, the cited data in the Second Chapter are mainly from Ancient~ Eastern Texts Relating to Old Testament, edited by James B. Pritchard.

The Historical Development Of The Sunday School Movement In The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, Martin Haendschke
Doctor of Theology Dissertation
This investigation was concerned primarily with the problem of change and growth. From a tremendous mass of historical materials it was necessary to select those events, experiences, statements, essays and papers which in proper historical setting could be considered as causative factors to bring about changes, both in attitude and in structure.

A Proposed Program Of Junior Church Camping With An Evangelistic Emphasis, Alfred Bohr
A Proposed Program Of Junior Church Camping With An Evangelistic Emphasis, Alfred Bohr
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
The church carries on its program of Christian Education in many ways. Some of these ways have been used by the church for centuries, but many new and more effective ways are constantly being developed to help the church carry on its vital ministry. One of these relatively new movements upon the stage of church hi story is the organized camping movement. This agency is rapidly becoming one of the church's moat effective means of Christian Education. Many church leaders are agreeing that •ta few weeks spent in a well-organized summer camp might be of more value educationally than a. …
Wesley's Thought On Faith And Reason In Christian Redemption, Vernon H. Haas
Wesley's Thought On Faith And Reason In Christian Redemption, Vernon H. Haas
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Christian theology has always embodied the ideas of faith and reason as basic principles in the concept of Christian redemption. Likewise, human experience daily embraces, revolves around, and finds integration through faith and reason.
The relationship of faith and reason has been much less distinct. Throughout the Christian era a great difference of opinion has existed especially on the relationship of the two ideas in redemption. Usually this difference is held consequent to some particular views of the nature of man. Thus, for example, faith and reason are set in direct contrast to each other. One may be good while …

Kerygma And Didache In Christian Education, Richard R. Caemmerer
Kerygma And Didache In Christian Education, Richard R. Caemmerer
Concordia Theological Monthly
The present topic enables the discussion of a number of crucial questions. Kerygma, "proclamation," designates the message of the Christian Gospel. Didache, "instruction," has been employed to summarize the teaching of the Bible concerning Christian behavior. Are these terms employed with due attention to their Biblical usage? What is the relation of the one to the other? How are they to be used in religious education? Is religious education adequately structured by these two concepts in combination and in sequence? If so, what is the sequence to be?

"In The Likeness Of Sinful Flesh", Martin H. Scharlemann
Concordia Theological Monthly
The Incarnation is without question the most profound mystery in the universe. That the Creator should condescend to become a creature is an event that defies logical analysis and rational explanation. "This cannot be," said the Greek of ancient days. ''The infinite can not become finite without denying itself. God is God, and man is man. One cannot be the other." But God did become flesh, man, a full human being, and there is every reason in the world to call this, as Kierkegaard has done, the Great Paradox. It cannot be comprehended. It can only be received in grateful …

Casework Therapy And The Clergy, Robert Devries
Casework Therapy And The Clergy, Robert Devries
Concordia Theological Monthly
In addition to the usual social work services, the social service department of our agency makes available to clergymen casework therapy for parishioners who present problems which seemingly do not respond to pastoral counseling. Helping many people with varied problems during the last four years, therapy has here demonstrated its usefulness as an adjunct to pastoral counseling.

A Study Of The Attitudes Toward And Understandings Of Temple Marriage Of A Selected Group Of Seminary Students In The Alpine School District (Utah), Jerald Ray Johansen
Theses and Dissertations
The objective of most religious teachings and concepts is to change the student's attitude that desirable behavior may follow. The measurement of attitudes and the way people feel about certain religious concepts are, to an extent, determinative of their behavior. This realization has brought about a steady growth within the educational field of attitude and opinion measurement. It has also influenced religious educators to investigate this field in their efforts to get people to attain desirable religious goals.
The problem, investigated in the present research, was concerned with whether the youth of seminary age in the Church of Jesus Christ …

A Study Of Assembly Of God Sect Members In Stanislaus County, William Jack Gentry
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Since the evaluation of sect to non-sect presumably involve a change of values and beliefs of its members, the problem and purpose of this study was to introduce a set of instruments which would adequately measure the values and beliefs of the first generation and the second generation Assembly of God members, and to detect any significant differences of values and beliefs.

It is necessary for me to do three things In this thesis: (1) Spell out the meaning of fellowship in relationship to an understanding of the nature of the church In its origin and in contemporary thinking. (2) Find out what our own traditions are regarding the nature of the church. (3) Evaluate our traditional understanding of the concept of the church as Disciples of Christ.
A Study Of Childhood Experiences Of Physicists, Lds Seminary Teachers And Outstanding Competitive Athletes, A. Garr Cranney Jr.
A Study Of Childhood Experiences Of Physicists, Lds Seminary Teachers And Outstanding Competitive Athletes, A. Garr Cranney Jr.
Theses and Dissertations
Theories of vocational choice are of current and vital interest to the counseling profession. Roe's theoretical work based on the Freudian assumption that occupational choice is related to family atmostphere has particularly stimulated recent research in this area. This study similarly follows her theory and employs Dr. Nachmann's techniques who tested comparable hypotheses with different groups in 1957.
The problem of this study was to determine if there were certain differences in the childhood experience of physicists, L.D.S. seminary teachers, and outstanding competitive athletes. Fifteen B.Y.U. students were interviewed in each group, the interviews following the items of a questionnaire. …
A Textual Comparison Of The Isaiah Passages In The Book Of Mormon With The Same Passages In The St. Mark's Isaiah Scroll Of The Dead Sea Community, Wayne Ham
Theses and Dissertations
The Book of Mormon contains twenty-one chapters of the Book of Isaiah: two through fourteen, twenty-nine, and forty-eight through fifty-four. The language is primarily that of the King James Version with some variations. The King James Version itself has been translated from the Massoretic Hebrew Text. It is a fair assumption that the variations in the Book of Mormon represent an older, more accurate text than the Massoretic Text.
Textual critics are anxious to find ancient texts and versions of the scriptures in the hope that some of these texts may contain readings closer to the original than does the …
