Is Man's Natural Desire For Perfect Happiness A Convincing Argument For Immortality, Felix Frank Taterczynski Apr 1935

Is Man's Natural Desire For Perfect Happiness A Convincing Argument For Immortality, Felix Frank Taterczynski

Bachelors’ Theses

The argument with which I shall concern myself in this treatise is not of isolated interest, but one which at one time or another is bound to occupy the thought of every thinking person. My aim here is not to construct a new original philosophical doctrine of my own, but to construct or offer an interpretation, on well-founded and established principles, of a doctrine which is hidden in the minds of every rational being. As a passing remark I say that I am not writing this thesis as a philosophic expert, because I am well aware of the fact that …

Volume 05: 1934-35, St. Mary’S Of The Barrens Seminary (Missouri) Jan 1935

Volume 05: 1934-35, St. Mary’S Of The Barrens Seminary (Missouri)

De Andrein

A major achievement of the students of St. Mary’s of the Barrens was the regular publication of their student newspaper. Originally titled, The Andrean, it began as a typewritten, hand illustrated piece that appears to have been circulated among the student body from 1928 to 1930. In November 1930, the format and title changed to The DeAndrein. The printed newspaper included copies of photographs, and was offered for sale to alumni, family, and friends. This informative publication continued uninterrupted until 1965. Many issues of The DeAndrein (newsletter) from June 1940 to December 1963; various programs, goals, directions, etc.; many pamphlets …

The Influence Of The Lockian Empiricism On The Theology Of Alexander Campbell, William J. Moore Jan 1935

The Influence Of The Lockian Empiricism On The Theology Of Alexander Campbell, William J. Moore

Graduate Thesis Collection

Modern scholarship, in its effort to render a true account of the facts of existence, has placed much emphasis on what is sometimes called the historical method of study. The presupposition of this method is that the essence of reality lies in development, growth, and adaptation, whether the reality sought is that of an organic formation, an institution, or an idea. It is assumed that one cannot satisfactorily understand a thing until one knows the sources from which it sprang, the processes by which it came into being, and the changes which it has experienced in becoming adapted to its …

Four Fundamental Factors In The Instability Of The American Home, Harold Joseph Miller

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The family may be defined as a group of interacting personalities of neer tie or blood-kin; namely, husband, wife, children, and may include grand parents. The origin of the family is not clear, since we find marriage in a rather highly developed form among the most primitive tribes. The family has taken on different forms in various places and under varying circumstances. Perhaps monogamy, the union of one man and one woman, is the most prevalent fore of marriage, not only in the United States but among all peoples and in all ages. Polygyny, the union of one man with several …

History Of Erastus Snow, Joseph William Olson Jan 1935

History Of Erastus Snow, Joseph William Olson

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this Thesis has been to write, for the first time, an authentic, unbiased "Biography of Erastus Fairbanks Snow, Missionary, Pioneer, and Colonizer."

Biography was chosen at the suggestion of Dr. Lowry Nelson, Professor of Rural Social Economics, of Brigham Young University, and because of a natural fondness for western history, and a sincere appreciation for the men and women who made "The West" liveable. For the particular subject chosen, I am indebted to Dr. William J. Snow, Professor of History at Brigham Young University.
