This issue of Review of Applied Urban Research features "A Case Study of Crime at the South Side Terrace Housing Development," by Ken Overturf, Mark Schumacker, Richard Timberlake, Roy Vaugh, and Ruben Young.

The purposes of this study were to determine the crime rate within the South Side Terrace Housing (SSTH) development, the rate of reported and unreported crimes within the development, the security measures affecting the crime rate, and the characteristics of those victimized.

Crimes & Illness: The Psychological & Criminal Defects Derived From The Architectural & Spatial Design In Public Housing Projects, David Preece

The architectural and spatial design and two public housing projects, Brownsville and Van Dyke, located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York, were tested to determine their effects upon the crime rates and mental illness. While keeping the socio-economic factors under limited control, a data comparison approach was used to illuminate any difference in the crime and mental illness rates between the two projects. A significant difference in the crime rates was noticed between them with the Van Dyke Houses having a higher crime rate. The Octofoil

The Octofoil is the offical publication of the Ninth Infantry Division Association, Inc., an organization formed by the officers and men of the 9th Infantry Division in order to perpetuate the memory of fallen comrades, preserve the esprit de corps of the Division, promote peace and serve as an information bureau about the 9th Infantry Division. The Association is made up of 9th Infantry veterans from WWII and Vietnam, spouses, widows and lineal descendants.

James A. Harmon was born in 1890 on his grandfather’s farm outside of Red House, WV. Mr. Harmon reminiscences about his childhood growing up on a 350-acre farm. He earned a sixth grade education at a two-room schoolhouse. When he was 14 years old, Mr. Harmon started his career on the river on the Steamer Calvert. During his interview, Mr. Harmon focuses on his varied jobs on many steamboats. Although he performed well in all of his duties, his greatest passion was engineering. The Development And Analysis Of Base Line Data For The Estimation Of Incidence In The Handicapped School Age Population, Patricia Craig, Norman Mceachron

The purpose of this study was, first, to examine and critique the more popular incidence sources for handicapping conditions in the school age population, and second, to establish reasonably reliable base line data on which the future analysis of special population groups can be grounded. On the basis of this study, we suggest that the National Center of Health Statistics estimates become the primary source for further analysis due to both their reliability and comparability. It is questionable whether these figures could be refined further by conducting an independent national survey of school children. Data reliability is important, since even …
