Since 1920 the Commonwealth 0£ Virginia bas had an organized Civilian Vocational Rehabilitation Program, having enacted the legislation creating the Service. a few weeks prior to the passage of the Federal Act in June of that year. A national consciousness of tho crippled and disabled had been awakened following World War I which culminated in the Veteran Rehabilitation Act. This was, actually, the forerunner of all later legislation meeting the popular demand tor a program available to all citizens, and which now reaches into all of the forty-eight states and the District of Columbia as well.as Alaska, Puerto Rico, and …

It was the purpose of this study (1) to determine whether or not some of various types of feebleminded fall down differentially on any of the components of the tests more than on others, i.e., whether or not the hydrocephalics, for example, would run relatively high on verbal-meaning, whereas the mongoliana would run relatively high on space; and (2) to determine whether or not, considering the feebleminded group as a whole, there would be any significant differences in primary mental abilities .

It was the purpose of this study to make application of Carl H. Rogers' non-directive method of psychotherapy in the treatment of juvenile delinquents. The study was set up in an effort to determine the value of such a treatment procedure as one method of treating this type of individual.

The hypothesis to be tested was that non-directive psychotherapy would improve the personal and social adjustment of institutionalized delinquents. Supporting this general assumption the following three corollaries were assumed: (1) that improved personal adjustment would be reflected in adjustment inventories, (2) that improved social behavior would be reflected in social …

For many years the practical value of tests of intelligence, aptitude and other qualities has been demonstrated. As the “testing movement” has grown, a multitude of tests has been devised and is now available for testing of human abilities. Two of the most important attempts to understand intellectual abilities are found in the theories and methods of Spearman and Thurstone. There is a possibility that the statistical studies of these theorists have overlooked a valuable source of information, that is existing experimental information about different processes included in mental ability. A high incidence of transient aphasia among its cases has been recognized for some time by the Fort Hays Kansas State College Psychological Clinic. Clinical tests of transient aphasia are a routine part of the Clinic’s psychometric procedure, especially with children showing speech and reading disabilities. Abnormally long eye fixations where the word is known to the subject momentary binocular divergence, periodic eye tremors, blocks in phonation either with or without the usual symptoms of stuttering, superficial appearance of transitory deafness, and various motor blocks have been suspected as being evidence of transient aphasic conditions.
