The Mosaic Test As A Diagnostic Indicator Of Schizophrenia, Irvin Arthur Hansen Jr.
The Mosaic Test As A Diagnostic Indicator Of Schizophrenia, Irvin Arthur Hansen Jr.
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Within the past decade the field of clinical psychology has become increasingly concerned with projective tests as a means of facilitating the understanding of the dynamic makeup of the individual personality. The enthusiasm over these techniques has resulted in the development of a barrage of projective techniques, purporting to uncover dynamics and "complexes" to a sometimes fantastic and often dubious extent. The subjective nature of these tests appears to render them most difficult to quantify and validate experimentally. Although the Mosaic test dates its origin twenty-five years back, there have been few, if any, successful validation studies. Those that have …

Student Work
The field of personality is one of the most popular, challenging, important, and confused in present-day psychological studies.
During the psychology’s infancy, the study was neglected by the psychologists and left to the uncontrolled clinical methods of the psychiatrists and psychoanalysis. Finally, study in this field has been undertaken by psychologists possessing scientific method, but too often lacking the orientation to persons as such, which characterizes the clinically trained psychiatrists. It should, therefore, he no surprise to find chaotic conditions ruling the study of the psychology of personality.
An Experimental Study Of The Effect Of Five Variables On The Rate Of Reversal Of Reversible Figures., Clarence Howard Amster
An Experimental Study Of The Effect Of Five Variables On The Rate Of Reversal Of Reversible Figures., Clarence Howard Amster
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Many conflicting reports have been given in the literature concerning the effect of various factors on the rate of reversal of figure and ground in reversible perspective. Flugel (7, 8) suggested that changes in eye movement increased the number of reversals. He thought that fixation on one part of the figure could lead to S’s interpretation of this part as being "nearer” the observer and that changes in perspective were induced by changing the fixation point. Donahue (5) found that there was a rhythm in the reversals but the shift in the fixation point was not in rhythm with the …
The Communication Of Supervisory Functions And Its Relationship To Employee Attitude, Betty Jane Neitzel
The Communication Of Supervisory Functions And Its Relationship To Employee Attitude, Betty Jane Neitzel
Wayne State University Theses
The history of industrial and personnel psychology contains a large amount of literature of the investigations made of personal traits and characteristics, individual differences, and of the psychological tests which measure these factors. More recently personnel and industrial psychologists have become interested in other phases of research. The employee in industry has increasingly become the focal point in investigations and discussions and at present personnel interrelationships and the dynamics of the working situations are attracting the attention of a number of psychologists. This shift in interest has brought with it new emphasis in the literature.
The study to be presented …
The Formation And Retention Of Concepts As A Function Of Their Abstractness, Ruth Baker Hines
The Formation And Retention Of Concepts As A Function Of Their Abstractness, Ruth Baker Hines
Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice
The general problem of the experiment was to investigate the influence of abstractness on the formation and retention of concepts. The specific problems were the following: (1) How does abstractness influence the number of promptings required to learn and relearn concepts? (2) What is the relation of abstractness to the percentage of consistent concepts learned and retained? (3) What is the relation of the number of promptings required to learn and relearn consistent or correct as compared with inconsistent or incorrect concepts? (4) What are the individual differences in the method of learning and relearning highly abstract concepts?
The Role Of The Minister In Psychotherapy, Samuel Schwartz
The Role Of The Minister In Psychotherapy, Samuel Schwartz
Master's Theses
why should the minister intrude on the field of psychotherapy? Physicians will say that many a pastor who has come into the sick-room has done the patient more harm than good. The solemn appearance of the "man of God" and his mournful players have set back many a recovery, they will tell you.
An Analysis Of Vocabulary Variables At The College Level, Betty Ann Allen
An Analysis Of Vocabulary Variables At The College Level, Betty Ann Allen
Master's Theses
The strength and growth of vocabulary is one or the decisive factors in successful college work. Educators find it helpful to evaluate not only the general vocabulary ability of the college student, but also the more specialized directions which the development of the student 's vocabulary may take.
The author's interest in this problem grew out of the results obtained with freshmen in the Westhampton College orientation program in September 1948. In working up the data from 119 freshmen 's scores on the Michigan Vocabulary Profile Test, results were such as to arouse interest in analysis of freshmen performance on …
