Promoting Equitable Early Childhood School Readiness Through Prevention And Advocacy In A Rural Community, Teri Kimberling
Promoting Equitable Early Childhood School Readiness Through Prevention And Advocacy In A Rural Community, Teri Kimberling
Selected Social Change Portfolios in Prevention, Intervention, and Consultation
Goal Statement
The goal of this Social Change Portfolio is to promote healthier developmental outcomes for young children in our rural community by increasing access to early childhood readiness supports that prevent social-emotional and behavioral difficulties in kindergarten.
Significant Findings
Early childhood school readiness is a significant public health and mental health concern in the rural coastal community of Lincoln County, Oregon. A large number of children enter kindergarten without any school readiness, whether it was in a formal preschool or just done at home. This can be due to many factors, including socioeconomic disparities, such as high poverty rates, …
Decentralization And Trust: Institutional Design For Effective Governance, Michael A. Nelson
Decentralization And Trust: Institutional Design For Effective Governance, Michael A. Nelson
University Research
This study examines the relationship between decentralization and public trust in the civil service using a multidimensional framework that extends beyond conventional fiscal measures. Drawing on indicators of regional and local government autonomy across 47 countries from 1995 to 2018, the analysis yields four findings. Trust is higher when local governments, rather than regional authorities, lead service delivery; greater subnational financial self-reliance is positively associated with trust; oversight by higher tiers enhances accountability and citizen perceptions; and shared-rule arrangements that involve regional governments in national decision-making further bolster trust. Overall, the findings highlight the limits of fiscal decentralization alone and …

Staff Education To Emergency Nurses On Improving Handoff Communication Using The I-Pass Tool, Lekeyna Gleason
Staff Education To Emergency Nurses On Improving Handoff Communication Using The I-Pass Tool, Lekeyna Gleason
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Effective communication during nurse-to-nurse handoff remains a critical determinant of patient safety in high-acuity emergency settings, where rapid decisions and fluctuating clinical demands can lead to inconsistent structure, omission of critical information, and inefficient transitions of care. The practice gap identified was a lack of standardized knowledge and consistent use of a structured bedside handoff tool among emergency department (ED) nurses. The practice-focused question guiding this project was, Does educating ED nurses on using the I-PASS bedside handoff tool improve knowledge of structured bedside reporting as measured by pre- and post-implementation surveys? The ADDIE framework and the Johns Hopkins evidence-based …

Development Status And Existing Problems Of Ion-Solvation Membranes For Electrolysis Of Water, Zheng-Yuan Zhou, Yu-Tao Sun, Zheng-Bang Liu, Chuan-Zheng Wang, Yong-Nan Zhou, Xi Luo, Tian-Chi Zhou, Jin-Li Qiao
Journal of Electrochemistry
Ion-solvaing membranes (ISMs) have received extensive attention in recent years as a key component in electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices. This article provides an overview of structural composition, performance advantages, research progress, ion conduction mechanism and existing issues of ISMs, primarily classifying them according to the matrix structure. A detailed analysis of performance enhancement methods, key performance indicators of ISMs and performance influencing factors is also presented. The article contributes to further optimizing the design and application of ion-solvation membranes, providing theoretical support for the development of fields such as hydrogen production through electrolysis of water and electrochemical energy …

The Ntp Anode For Aqueous Sodium Ion Batteries: Recent Advances And Future Perspectives, Ming-Li Wang, Xue-Ying Su, Zheng-Xiang Shan, Shu-Zhe Yang, Heng-Rui Guo, Hao Luo, Dong-Liang Chao
Journal of Electrochemistry
Aqueous sodium-ion batteries (ASIBs) have attracted great attention in aqueous batteries due to their merit of high safety. However, the constrained work potential and insufficient chemical stability of anode materials in aqueous electrolytes hinder the large-scale application of ASIBs. Sodium titanium phosphate, NaTi2(PO4)3 (NTP), is considered one of the most promising anode materials for ASIBs due to its excellent electrochemical performance and tunable structure. Recently, great achievements have been made in the development of NTP, however, a comprehensive review of existing studies is still lacking. This article firstly introduces the basic properties of NTP and …

The Role Of Digital Service Development By Bumdes Kuala Dua In Enhancing The Local Economy, Siti Fatimah, Fahmi -. Fahmi, Radityo Kusumo Santoso, Feriska Ajeng Anantri
Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia
Digital transformation has become an important instrument for strengthening local economies in rural areas, particularly through the role of village economic institutions. Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) hold a strategic position in integrating digitalization into business management and community empowerment. This study aims to analyze the role of BUMDes Kuala Dua in the development of digital services as a strategy for enhancing the local economy and to formulate a model for strengthening village-based digital economic institutions. The study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive analytical method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving the management …

Information Technology And Participatory Democracy: Some Considerations, Dick Flacks
Information Technology And Participatory Democracy: Some Considerations, Dick Flacks

Please read the following in light of the following biographical context: I was one of the several dozen students who met together at Port Huron, Michigan in June 1962 to found the Students for a Democratic Society and draft the Port Huron Statement. That experience marked me for life. For me, the phrase ‘participatory democracy’, despite its awkwardness, encapsulates what’s essential for defining the good society and for criticizing established institutions and practices, and for formulating a political agenda. And my goal as a teacher for these 43 years has been to inspire students with that vision and help empower …

From Participatory Democracy To Digital Democracy, Mark Kann

Tom Hayden posted on his website, http://www.tomhayden.com, an article he coauthored with Dick Flacks to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the Port Huron Statement. The two SDS founders concluded, “Perhaps the most important legacy of the Port Huron Statement is the fact that it introduced the concept of participatory democracy to popular discourse and practice.” The concept of participatory democracy encompassed values such as equality, decentralization, and consensus decision-making. It provided direction for “all those trying to create a world where each person has a voice in the decisions affecting his or her life.” [1] In this article, I suggest …
