A Histological Comparison Of The Small Intestine Of The Frog And Man, Eli Getch
A Histological Comparison Of The Small Intestine Of The Frog And Man, Eli Getch
Bachelors’ Theses
Without the aid of a microscope, Bichat in 1800 studied tissues of various parts of the body, and, even though he did not make any cellular sketches, his work laid the foundation for histology. Then after the announcement of the cell theory by Schleiden and Schwann in 1839, a new path opened for histological study. Leydig (1864) applied the histology of that day to the lower animals. Cajal (1906) cleared up the complicated relations of the tissues together with a complete investigation of the nervous system.

An Inquiry Into The Influence Of Environment On The Incidence Of Poultry Diseases, L. Van Es, J. F. Olney
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
The principal purpose of the investigation reported here was to evaluate, if possible, hygienic measures, and in addition to gather whatever information might become available pertaining to the relation of certain disorders to a given poultry population after its exposure to their specific etiologic factors. The experiments were conducted on a piece of ground upon which poultry had not been maintained for many years, if ever.

Endocrinodontia, John Milton Goldberg
Endocrinodontia, John Milton Goldberg
Bachelors’ Theses
Endocrinology is the science dealing with the internal secretions and their physiological and pathological relations. The internal secretions are elaborated from their respective glands into the blood or lymph stream without a duct, and are thus called endocrine or ductless glands. The internal secretions or hormones are consequently never seen directly, thus, only their effects can be studied. The endocrine glands have the responsibility of coordinating the speed with which every cell in the body performs its duty. They are able to sense any change of environment and they react immediately by sending out hormones to that organ which require …
Status Of Dentistry In Year 1890, Harry James Pearsall
Status Of Dentistry In Year 1890, Harry James Pearsall
Bachelors’ Theses
It is in little things that we show our real character; so it is in the minuteness of our manipulations as dentists that we leave our marks for our good or bad workmanship. To the casual observer, our general character may be accepted as far above the average; but many of us are so loose in little things, so careless and uncultured in our everyday language, tastes, and mannerisms, if not really repulsive in many things observable to our intimate friends and patrons, that, if it were not for their charity, we should repel them. And so in our dental …

Calcium Metabolism And Teeth, Adam Victor Walmus
Calcium Metabolism And Teeth, Adam Victor Walmus
Bachelors’ Theses
The development of teeth occurs with the rest of the body and not as a separate unit. The calcium which the teeth or bones receive is present in food in both organic and inorganic form. In all probability, the organic must be converted to the inorganic form in the alimentary tract prior to being absorbed in the upper regions of the small intestine.

Factors Concerned In The Etiology Of Malocclusions And Irregularities Of The Jaws, Vincent Stile
Factors Concerned In The Etiology Of Malocclusions And Irregularities Of The Jaws, Vincent Stile
Bachelors’ Theses
Where, when and. how malocclusions started, we do not know, but evidence establishes the fact that from time immemorial animals as well as every race of mankind have been afflicted with malocclusions. Knowledge of the cause, treatment, and prevention of malocclusions and caries have been the chief interest of dental science. Far more advancement has been made and far simpler is the study of dental caries than that of irregularities of the teeth and jaws. Irregularities of the positions of the teeth and the resulting malocclusions, as in every pathological condition, is essentially a problem of growth and development and …
