Average Frequencies Of Daily Occurrence Of Maximum And Minimum Temperatures For Five Areas In Eastern South Dakota By Five Week Intervals Throughout The Year, Ray F. Pengra
Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)
Daily maximum and minimum temperatures for ten stations in eastern South Dakota were used in this report. The tables in this report are designed to show the daily frequency of maximum and minimum temperature occurrence within five degree intervals of temperature for each fifth week of the year.erage weekly temperature and precipitation for 60 South Dakota weather stations are presented in this report. The length of period varies from station to station depending on the date from which reasonably continuous data are available from each individual station. The data are presented in 60 tables arranged in alphabetical order.

Judging Quality In Dairy Products, P. A. Downs
Judging Quality In Dairy Products, P. A. Downs
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
In the dairy industry increasing attention is being paid to the question of quality of products. The well established system of buying and selling butter and cheese on the basis of quality by score or grade is practiced in the principal markets of the world. The other dairy products, while not marketed by score, are receiving more and more attention in this respect. As more information becomes available and the judging better standardized, other dairy products will doubtless be sold by grade.

Management Practices And Crop Yields On The Lower Yellowstone Project--1949, Rex D. Helfinstine
Management Practices And Crop Yields On The Lower Yellowstone Project--1949, Rex D. Helfinstine
Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)
Irrigation has been proposed for more than a million acres of land in North Dakota and South Dakota under the Pick-Sloan plan. What results have been obtained from irrigation of comparable areas? What were the experiences of farmers in these areas? The Lower Yellowstone Irrigation Project in western North Dakota and eastern Montana, which has been under irrigation since 1909, is comparable in many respects to the areas proposed for new irrigation. Knowledge of the results of irrigation on the Lower Yellowstone will be helpful in determining the economic justification for irrigating other areas in the Dakotas. The purpose of …
Experience With Federal Land Purchases As A Means Of Land Use Adjustment, Loyd Glover
Experience With Federal Land Purchases As A Means Of Land Use Adjustment, Loyd Glover
Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)
Drouth and depression during the 1930’s brought to the surface many economic problems, and among them many serious problems of agricultural land use. Unfavorable price relationships and unfavorable weather conditions both contributed to the creation of large areas of rural poverty and discontent. Some of these areas, so called "submarginal" areas for cultivation, became the object of a federal program of land acquisition and land use adjustment beginning in 1933. In many of these areas the situation called for immediate and drastic action. Poverty, soil erosion, abandoned land, and wholesale tax foreclosures prompted the federal government to undertake purchase of …

Settlement In The Santa Cruz Area: A Proposed Program For The Development Of An Area With European Immigrants And Bolivian Indians, Ernesto Wende-Frankel
Open Access Master's Theses (through 2010)
Introduction
This study involves conceptual analysis in a broad interpretation of the term of a public administration problem situation embracing cultural, as well as politico-economic factors. A program ot action is recommended in considerable detail, calling tor the settlement of colonists to develop agriculturally a large amount of Bolivian land that promises to become, with proper husbandry, highly productive.
The author is a Bolivian agricultural economist who is making public administration his career, with particular emphasis upon the efficient utilization or land--and manpower, which for sometime past in his native country has been poorly organized and under employed. During the …

Artificial Insemination Of Turkeys, H. L. Wiegers
Artificial Insemination Of Turkeys, H. L. Wiegers
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
Artificial insemination should be used for turkeys when results from natural matings are unsatisfactory. There is no hard and fast fertility rule to follow and each breeder will have his own basis of appraisal for the different varieties of turkeys. But one can say that when fertility drops below 65 per cent it is time to take action.
The Visceral To Skin Temperature Gradient In Restraint Hypothermia, Glenn L. Foster
The Visceral To Skin Temperature Gradient In Restraint Hypothermia, Glenn L. Foster
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
[Abstract Not Included]
Summary: The effects of restraint on skin, subcutaneous, and deep visceral temperatures of rats exposed to environmental temperatures of 0°C, 8°C, 16°C, and 28°C are determined. The temperature gradients of restrained and unrestrained rats at 0°G are compared.
From the data presented, it is felt that one factor in the thermolability of restrained animals is an increased heat loss. There is also evidence suggesting a decreased metabolic rate, the chemical nature of which is unknown Which of these two factors plays the greater role is yet to be determined.
Mammals Of The Lynndyl, Utah, Sand Dune Area : A Population Problem, Hugh J. Phillips
Mammals Of The Lynndyl, Utah, Sand Dune Area : A Population Problem, Hugh J. Phillips
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to determine the kinds, population, distribution, and general habits of the mammals of the Lynndyl sand dune area. Only one article concerning the dunes was found, but several have been written on other dunes; however, none was found concerning mammals. Two quantitative studies, plot and transect trappings, were made and general observations were taken within the study area. Three types of plots; Russian thistle, juniper, and baren moving dunes; were trapped and revealed the following species: Dipodomys ordii, Peromyscus maniculatus, Reithrodontomys megalotis, Onychomys leucogaster, and Neotoma lepida. The most numerous animal in all plots …
