Grain Merchandising At The Country Elevator, Arthur B. Sogn Aug 1959

Grain Merchandising At The Country Elevator, Arthur B. Sogn

Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)

The general public including the patrons has little knowledge of the internal operations of country elevators. This is due in part to the lack of adequate communication between the operator and his customers or patrons. In consequence the patrons too often fail to understand why a certain price for their grain is offered or why certain charges are made for services rendered. The farmer expects and is entitled to a ready market for his grains. The farmer may elect to sell his grain immediately at the current price, store it with the idea of obtaining a better price later, or …

Acreage Reserve Participation In South Dakota Wheat Areas, Allan M. Severson Dec 1958

Acreage Reserve Participation In South Dakota Wheat Areas, Allan M. Severson

Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)

The Agricultural Act of 1956, which contains the Soil Bank Act, was enacted in the spring of 1956. The soil bank program is divided into two phases, the acreage reserve and the conservation reserve. The acreage reserve is available to farmers with acreage allotments for the basic commodities, which are wheat and corn in South Dakota. The farmer takes part in the acreage reserve program by signing a one-year agreement with his Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee (hereafter referred to as the ASC Committee) and reducing his acreage below the assigned allotment on his farm. In return for taking the …

A Survey Of Management Opinions Of Noise In The Pulp And Paper Industry, Carola Trittin Jun 1958

A Survey Of Management Opinions Of Noise In The Pulp And Paper Industry, Carola Trittin

Masters Theses

Introduction

The pulp and paper industry is the fifth largest in the United States, dollar-wise, and is also the third fastest growing industry in the United States (1). There are between 375,000 and 400,000 people employed directly in the pulp and paper mills in the United States and Canada. A nation-wide survey on the importance of noise in this industry is needed to help clarify the effects, if any, that noise has upon its employees.

By definition, noise is non-harmonious sound. When the subject of noise is mentioned, many suggestions are given on places where such a study should be …

Breakfast Habits Of Some Utah School Children, Marlene M. Stegelmeier May 1957

Breakfast Habits Of Some Utah School Children, Marlene M. Stegelmeier

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

During the last 10 years, much emphasis has been placed on the importance of breakfast for people of all ages. Nutritionists have pointed out that persons who eat a hearty breakfast show fewer signs of mid-morning fatigue, have or develop better work habits, and do not get as hungry as those who eat little or no breakfast.

Many people do not realize the importance of starting the day with a good breakfast. The 12 to 13 hour fast which the body undergoes from the evening meal until breakfast time requires the consumption of an adequate breakfast. Many poor breakfasts may …
