Covid-19 Asian American Oral History Project: Reflecting On Identity And Oral History At A Community College, Thomas Cleary

In this article, I share narrators’ stories from the Covid-19 Asian American Oral History Project based at LaGuardia Community College, CUNY, to illustrate how Covid-19 and increased anti-Asian hate during the pandemic shaped Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) identities in Queens, New York. Narrators’ stories shed light on how Black Lives Matter impacted their own understanding of race and racialization, particularly as AAPI identity and race relate to the Model Minority Myth. Journal of Scientific Information Research

[Purpose/significance] Topic evolution analysis can help researchers quickly grasp the research hotspots and development trends of a discipline. However, existing topic models often overlook the semantic functions and structures of texts during topic extraction, making it difficult to reveal the deeper patterns of disciplinary development. This paper proposes an integrated framework for topic evolution analysis that combines the BERTopic model with semantic functions, aiming to enrich and improve the methodological system of topic evolution research.

Research On Identification And Evaluation Method Of Medical Experts' Expertise Domains In Online Health Community Based On Knowledge Graph, Yunjiang Xi, Qian Zhang, Man Li, Juan Yu

[Purpose/significance] This study aims to identify the expertise domains of medical experts, and evaluates their domain levels to provide a basis for community expert recommendation.

[Method/process] This study utilized the improved OneRel model to structure community historical Q&A into entity relation triples. Then used the knowledge graph triples to test the consistency between the medical knowledge in the community Q&A and the domain knowledge, and finally obtained the doctor's domain levels by aggregating in each expertise domain.

[Purpose/significance] Health information search is an important way for elderly people to actively cope with aging. Identifying the key factors affecting of their health information searching and exploring the correlation among these factors are of positive significance for promoting the elderly proactive health ability.

[Method/process] This paper firstly integrated the original research through a meta-ethnographic approach to form a set of factors influencing the elderly health information search. The DEMATEL method was then used to analyze the interrelationships among the influencing factors and identify the key influencing factors.

This study, conducted through the Global Center on Human Trafficking, explores the underexamined role of public and academic libraries in addressing human trafficking across the state of New Jersey. Despite limited formal guidance on their role in anti-trafficking efforts, libraries are increasingly acting as informal hubs for access to resources, education, and social service referrals. Through a statewide survey and qualitative responses from library professionals, this research examines how libraries are currently engaging in training, social work partnerships, programming, and public awareness initiatives. [Purpose/significance] This study investigates differences in digital medical-health information privacy preferences by measuring privacy sensitivity across diverse user groups in multiple contextual scenarios, analyzing variations both within user groups (across contexts) and between user groups (within the same context), thereby providing actionable insights for developing context-aware health information protection frameworks in digital healthcare services.

[Method/process] A model of users' sensitivity to digital medical health information was constructed based on contextual integrity theory, and an experimental study was conducted using a discrete choice experiment method. This project evaluated the current state of digital preservation practices among PRRLA (Pacific Rim Research Libraries Alliance) member libraries. This report outlined the best practices and guidelines of the member libraries. The study involved a literature review to examine existing research and practices in digital preservation. A survey was designed to collect detailed information from PRRLA members, complemented by online interviews with selected institutions to gain deeper insights. The report has the key findings, successful strategies with some suggestions for sustainable development of digital preservation.

As hybrid and remote work continues, special libraries are continually evolving to meet the needs of their communities. This includes remote and hybrid researchers at the University of North Dakota’s Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC).
