The starting point of this leadership style focuses on freeing ourselves from thoughts, limits, and/or behaviors that keep us stuck. An Attitude Of Openness: Adapting Body Neutrality For Performers, Kerstin A. Vaughn, Emily Baird Feb 2025

An Attitude Of Openness: Adapting Body Neutrality For Performers, Kerstin A. Vaughn, Emily Baird

Feminist Pedagogy

For performers, specifically dancers and actors, the body constitutes the vast majority of focus and training. It is what we present onstage, share with audiences, and contract to casting directors and choreographers. Our bodies, the way they look and move, directly influence the amount and quality of work we make. The concept of body neutrality, then, poses an interesting challenge for performers and those of us who train them. How do we balance a healthy relationship with the body while also thinking critically about all of the ways our bodies carry meaning in performance? How do we, as educators, promote …

Relationship Between Adjunct Faculty Workplace Inclusion And Burnout In Online Universities, Allisson Kinkade

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Online universities rely on adjunct faculty even though including them in institutional processes is challenging and might be related to burnout. The relationship between the level of workplace inclusion and burnout of adjunct faculty has not been investigated. The purpose of this quantitative study was to explore the relationship between the level of workplace inclusion and burnout of adjunct faculty at online universities, moderated by instructor age, gender, and the number of years teaching as an adjunct. The conservation of resource theory by Hobfoll was used as the theoretical framework. For this quantitative nonexperimental correlational research design, data from 104 …

Building Resilience To Public Safety Power Shutoffs Through Public Education, Vikram Koundinya, Cristina Chiarella, Susan Kocher, Faith Kearns, Sabrina Drill

Journal of Extension

Public Safety Power Shutoff events are being implemented in California to reduce wildfire impacts. We surveyed California residents to identify their information needs and understand the potential role of University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) in power shutoff management. A majority of respondents need information on alternative power sources and community power systems. Most respondents indicated family, friends, and neighbors as the important group to manage power shutoff. UCCE was least used and preferred source for power shutoff information. Our findings reveal a need for Cooperative Extension to play an important role in power shutoff management and educating the public.
