The purpose of this paper is to investigate the occurrence and character of the vermiculite deposits approximately four miles northwest of Pony; Madison County, Montana. The deposits are situated in rolling foothills at the northern end of the Tobacco Root Mountains.

A unit was constructed for the study of film heat transfer coefficients of a heavy fuel oil in viscous or streamline flow. The heat exchanger was of the shell and tube type, having extended longitudinal steel fins welded to the tube. Auxiliary equipment consisted of an oil pump, oil storage reservoirs, piping, and means for measurement of temperatures and oil flow rates. The unit was operated both as a fin type heat exchanger with the oil in contact with the finned surfaces, and as a straight tube and shell exchanger with the oil on the tube side. Oil flow rates …

The data presented may be used to compare mixes made from commercial aggregates with mixes containing local aggregates. Ethylcellulose was refluxed with Stearic, Oleic, Linseed Fatty acids, and a neutral Mineral Oil in the presence of a solvent. The products recovered were analyzed to determine if any possible reaction had taken place. Conditions for the reaction were carried out so that the temperatures obtained could be in the near range of varnish cooking, that is between 375 and 500°C. The I solvents used were diethylbenzene, boiling point 180oC and tetralin, boiling point 208oC. In each case approximate stoichiometric proportions of the fatty acids and ethylcellulose were used. These were refluxed to a sensible minimum viscosity of solution. The …

"The need for a technique for making torsion balance surveys of inundated areas was brought to the writer's attention during the years of 1927 to 1933, while employed by The Sinclair Exploration Company to prospect for oil in Austria, Hungary and North and Northwest Germany. At that time, the company was using ten torsion balances, supplementing the work with magnetometer surveys and refraction seismograph detail. I. SCOPE OF THIS REPORT In the Thirty-eighth Progress Report a series of 118 tests was reported on web crippling under concentrated loads. These 118 tests which included 17 representative tests of the Twenty-fifth Progress Report were carried out for web crippling by loads on the span, by simple end reactions, by end reactions with additional loads on top flange, and by reactions of continuous supports with similar additional loads.
