This thesis examines the evolution of the U.S. military's patient movement system during World War I and World War II to evaluate how well it may perform under the conditions of future large-scale combat operations. It asks whether the United States can move, treat, and sustain wounded personnel at the scale and pace required to preserve combat power in a prolonged, high-intensity conflict. Infection following trauma is one of the most prevalent and challenging complications faced by orthopedic surgeons. Inadequate tissue perfusion plays a critical role in this complication, as poorly perfused bone can be a nidus for bacterial biofilm formation and promote resistance to antibiotic treatments. Consequently, the management of open fractures and fracture-related infections relies on aggressive and thorough debridement to remove all poorly perfused bone. This thesis focuses on developing an indocyanine green (ICG)-based dynamic contrast-enhanced fluorescence imaging (DCE-FI) to objectively measure bone perfusion during open orthopedic surgeries and guide surgical debridement of devitalized bone.

This study uses relatively simple inputs and a replicable methodology to predict flood flow impacts of beaver habitat restoration at the site design scale using the engineering industry’s customary hydrology and hydraulic modeling approach. This study focuses on Toro Creek, the primary drainage for a 15.2 square mile watershed on the California Central Coast.

The effect of household oil and agricultural soil contamination on catalyst performance during polyolefin pyrolysis was simulated on mixed virgin plastic pellets by evaluating contamination influence on mixed plastic degradation temperatures. Three phyllosilicate nanocatalysts including Fulcat435, Fulcat22F and Y-Zeolite were evaluated in this work based on a literature review of catalyzed plastic pyrolysis and these catalysts’ ability to lower plastic decomposition temperature by 50 °C – 100 °C. These findings were confirmed in this research through thermogravimetric analysis of a polyolefin mixture and further developed in furnace experiments containing household oil and agricultural contamination. This study introduces an innovative approach to desertification susceptibility mapping by integrating q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets (Q-ROFS) with a neutrosophic environment. Conducted in Matrouh, Egypt, the research quantifies desertification risk through advanced modeling techniques that address uncertainty and non-linearity in environmental data. The Q-ROFS framework enhances risk prediction by capturing complex relationships among desertification indicators. Neutrosophic logic, meanwhile, effectively addresses imprecision and ambiguity. The resulting susceptibility map clearly distinguishes between vulnerable and non-vulnerable regions, offering valuable guidance for policymakers and planners. This data set includes the ideation results of an experiment in ideation effectiveness, along with tools for analyzing the quality of the ideation.

All ideas generated by 15 teams of BYU students are included in the database. The ideas have been placed into an OPED genealogy tree format. The quality of all the ideas has been evaluated. The novelty of one team's ideas has been evaluated.

Instructions for performing the OPED organization, evaluating quality, and evaluating novelty are included in the data workbook.
