This study was concerned with the problems of curriculum in disadvantaged areas. The purposes were to evaluate present curricula and also to discover the relationship of teacher training and teacher attitude to the major problems in low socio-economic areas.
Three third grade classes of various percentages of ethnic and racial groups were used. All schools were located in deprived areas.
Class One had 64.3 per cent Black, 25 per cent Spanish surnamed, 3.5 per cent Indian, and 7.2 per cent Anglo students. Class Two's percentages were 80 per cent Spanish surnamed, 8 per cent Black, 8 per cent Anglo, and …

The Problem
The purpose of this study was to investigate the problem solving abilities of Navajo Indians, Spanish Americans and Anglos in two schools of Albuquerque, using WISC performance subtests as criterion measures and including the five psychomotor skills, perception, visual set, emotional set, physical set and fine motor acts as predictor variables at intra- and inter-ethnic levels.

An Investigation Of Occupational Values Held By A Group Of Rural Northern New Mexico Senior High School Students, Bill Leslie Johnson

The general objective of this research was to make certain predictions concerning occupational values from the cultural values of the three major ethnic groups represented in northern New Mexico—Anglo, Spanish-American, and Indian. A corollary to this main purpose was an investigation of the effect of maturation and sex upon occupational values. The research problem, then, centered upon analyzing differences in patterns of occupational values among various categories of individuals.

A Comparative Study Of Middle Schools And Junior High Schools In New York State., Edward L. Davis

This study was undertaken to determine to what extent the middle school, in actual practice, is doing a better job of meeting the needs of young adolescents than its predecessor, the junior high school.
Thirty-five middle schools and thirty-five junior high schools were paired in terms of school population, soci-economic conditions, and geographical location.
Letters and questionnaires were sent out to principals of schools included in this study. The study was explained to these administrators and the need was stressed for the return of all questionnaires for the completion of the study.
