Reports By Native And Non-Native Speakers Of English On Their Strategies On The Cloze Procedure: Implications For Language Proficiency Testing And Language Learning, Thomas Emil Beck

This study utilizes an interview procedure to elicit self-report, or intuitive, data from a sample of native and non-native speakers of English, all university students, on their recall of their strategies on the cloze procedure. Interview procedures appear not to have been previously used in the study of behavior on integrative language tests. Thus the primary methodological goal of this study was to determine if the interview procedure would produce valid information of practical use both to language testing specialists and to language teachers. A lack of available evidence in Nebraska to formulate decisions based on the opinions of school administrators, regarding programs in agricultural education at the high school level, prompted the investigator to propose a study which was designed to obtain the opinions of high school administrators regarding selected aspects of the program of vocational agriculture in Nebraska.Additionally the study was designed to then present those opinions in a form that would be considered useful to a variety of state and local supervisors of vocational agriculture programs as well as teachers and educators.This study was limited to superintendents and principals in the …

A Survey Of Qualifications And Job Activities Of Employees Responsible For Space Analysis In Public Four Year Institutions Of Higher Education, Duane Marvin Skeen

This paper presents the results of a national survey of 342 four year public institutions of higher education. The survey was conducted by questionnaire. Its purpose was to determine the administrative level, educational background, and major job responsibilities of persons performing analysis of physical facility needs in colleges and universities. The survey revealed that 115 (46. 18 percent) of 249 responding institutions had such an employee. The most frequently reported job title was Campus Planner, and Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Education were the most common undergraduate majors. This study was designed to develop a criteria testing instrument for the Miami Linguistic Reading Program. The children involved in the study were two groups of second grade students taught to read by means of a reading program based on linguistic principles and two groups of similar students taught to read through a conventional basal program. The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the books in children's literature written by New Mexico writers. Major emphasis was given to those books published from 1950 to 1970. The study identified only the New Mexico writers of children's books who claimed the state as their place of residence while writing their books. The study identified and analyzed those books which an elementary school child would enjoy.
