The data were tabulated by sex, by residence nails, by halls with young professional directors, by halls with older "dorm mother" directors, and by a total overall. Slight differences were found between male and female students and between the various groups. However, …

Cerebral Lateralization And Adult Second Language Learning, Fairlee Winfield Carroll May 1978

Cerebral Lateralization And Adult Second Language Learning, Fairlee Winfield Carroll

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

Learner-focused investigations of foreign language learning have centered mainly on socio-affective factors, the effects of the native language, and the course of grammatical development. Although intrinsic neurophysiological limitations have been suggested, neurolinguistic research evidence obtained with normal subjects has been lacking. An investigation is made of cerebral processing during adult second language learning utilizing the dichotic listening technique. Results are of educational importance in that they are indicative of processing strategies related to the specialization of the rightcerebral-hemisphere for a holistic mode and the specialization of the left-cerebral-hemisphere for an analytic mode.

Jean Piaget's Theory Of Equilibration And The Self-Regulating Behavior Of Sixteen Children, Luisa Crucita Chávez May 1978

Jean Piaget's Theory Of Equilibration And The Self-Regulating Behavior Of Sixteen Children, Luisa Crucita Chávez

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

An investigation is made of Jean Piaget's theory of equilibration, and of the equilibrating behavior of sixteen children in school. It is demonstrated that equilibration could be a valid construct from which to view children's behavior--especially learning behavior. It is also demonstrated that a sound curriculum base can be derived from the equilibration theory of Piaget. Questions about educational pedagogy can be cast in terms of equilibration theory.

An observational study is made of sixteen children's self-regulating (equilibrating) behavior in their classroom environments. The children differ in mental structure in terms of sex, level of development, level of curiosity and …

The entire senate eligibility list was used as the sample because it, having been screened for senate eligibility, represents our teaching faculties, as distinguished from the administrative faculty, or other nonteaching personnel, and it is the senate for whom this report was prepared.
