A Survey Of Hospital Facilities Potentially Available For Nursing Education In Orange County, California, Mabel M. Sanders Jun 1962

A Survey Of Hospital Facilities Potentially Available For Nursing Education In Orange County, California, Mabel M. Sanders

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

In the past decade the nurse/population ratio in the West had been declining. The region was not educating enough nurses to replace normal labor market turnover. The migration of nurses into the area was not in proportion to the explosive growth. In view of the deficit it became imperative for California communities to plan for expansion of existing nursing education facilities and to consider the development of new programs where educational and clinical facilities were available.

This study was concerned with hospital facilities available for nursing education in Orange County, California. Its purpose was to investigate hospital resources that might …

The Administration Of Safety In Physical Education, James John Nelson Jun 1962

The Administration Of Safety In Physical Education, James John Nelson

Graduate Student Research Papers

It is essential that school systems in the United States strive to make physical education programs as safe as possible. To ignore this fact is to invite mass disapproval by the general public. Once this has happened a curtailment of physical education programs could take place which would, eventually, have detremental effects on the physical fitness of youth. As in any other phase of school work the primary responsibility for the successful functioning of the school safety program in physical education rests with the administrator. To meet this responsibility with intelligent leadership should be of prime concern to the administrator. …

Utilization Of Community Resources In Social Studies, Charles H. Thacker Jun 1962

Utilization Of Community Resources In Social Studies, Charles H. Thacker

Graduate Student Research Papers

Since most communities surrounding every school contain unlimited opportunities for students to learn, it is necessary that these community resources be located and made known to the school and the teacher before they can be utilized in the school program. Therefore, a comprehensive inventory of such resources is essential, as is the systematic recording of survey findings, formulation of school policies concerning use of community resources, and the diffusion of this information to all personnel concerned. In turn such an organized program may have an influential effect upon the following: 1. Provide the students with new educational learning resources for …

For practical purposes programs can be categorized into the following three classifications: (1) enrichment within the regular classroom, (2) acceleration, and (3) segregation. Factors In Clinical Instruction Which Influence Effective Student Performance, Lynette Kapualani Hong

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

Teaching and maintenance of standards of nursing care are indeed a responsibility of the clinical instructor. If she is to do effective instruction of the student's clinical experience, she needs to know what factors are influencing the student's performance as a result of her presence.

This study was conducted to identify factors from nursing students' opinions concerning what clinical instructors do that influence effective student performance. If a state of physical fitness is desirable and therefore is being emphasized, what then is the best means of obtaining this state? This necessitates physical educators' evaluating closely and objectively their activity courses in order to determine what contribution their courses have made to this objective of physical fitness. Little such evaluation has been made. This study helps to evaluate the contribution of three activities toward the development of physical fitness.
