The Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions (BCIM) was created in 1874 as the Office of the Commissioner for Catholic Indian Missions to protect, promote, and administer the Native American mission interests of the Catholic Church in the United States. Records in this group are organized by record group and then state or territory and year. Collection organization varies very little throughout the collection, however, prior to 1921, general correspondence was organized by location. Starting with Director Hughes, general correspondence was placed as its own subgroup within the collection and is organized alphabetically. Please go to Ask An Archivist if you …

Development Of A Program Of Art For Grades Four Through Six, Julia Eloise Oliver
Masters Theses
Chapter I
Introduction
Art in the elementary school encompasses all the fields of creative expression. There should be equal emphasis on dancing, music, poetry, drama, writing, painting, construction, and the crafts. Although these forms are usually worked with separately, the underlying purpose should always be the development of the children's creative power and not the perfection of any separate skill.1

Teachers are a busy group. Contrary to the belief of many persons who are not in close contact with a teacher, the school day does not end when the children leave the building. No indeed--there are faculty meetings, committee meetings, P.T.A. meetings, educational association meetings and supervisor meetings to mention but a few of the functions every teacher is expected to attend. Few teachers enjoy the luxury of an eight hour working day. It is …
