Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Every year, tuberculosis affects the lungs of millions of people and rifampicin is the commonly used medicine for its treatment due to its antibiotic nature. The frequent use of rifampicin may lead to its increased concentration in the water resources. This research work is focused on the cloud point extraction (CPE) procedure for the preconcentration of rifampicin prior to its determination in water. The UV/vis spectrophotometric method was adapted for the measurement of rifampicin content after the phase separation. Triton-X 100 was used as the nonionic surfactant which contains hydrophilic polyethylene chain feasible for the extraction of analyte. Various analytical …

Investigation Of Pzt-5h And Pzt-8 Type Piezoelectric Effect On Cycling Stability On Si-Mwcnt Containing Anode Materials, Mehbare Doğrusöz, Muhammed Taha Demi̇rkan, Rezan Demi̇r Çakan Jan 2021

Investigation Of Pzt-5h And Pzt-8 Type Piezoelectric Effect On Cycling Stability On Si-Mwcnt Containing Anode Materials, Mehbare Doğrusöz, Muhammed Taha Demi̇rkan, Rezan Demi̇r Çakan

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Silicon (Si) containing materials cannot be used in commercial lithium ion batteries due to the mechanical stress problem triggered by volume expansion during cycling. The high-volume change causes mechanical instability of Si anode materials during charging/discharging, resulting fast capacity fading. It is thought that piezoelectric materials can be a solution for the volume expansion problem because of their ability to generate electric field when pressure is applied on them. For this purpose, PZT-8 and PZT-5H type piezoelectric materials were mixed with silicon and multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) to obtain anode composites and tested electrochemically versus lithium metal. The piezoelectiric effect …

Cyclodextrin combines with these natural compounds could not only overcome these shortcomings, but also increase the antibacterial ability of active compounds. This review focuses on the following aspects of active natural compounds in cyclodextrin-based food: the preparation, food applications, and their possible antibacterial mechanisms of different systems. Both cyclodextrin and its derivatives are able to selectively combine with different guest molecules, such as terpenes, phenols and …

Sulbactam, clavu-lanic acid, and tazobactam are first-generation β-lactamase inhibitors and avibactam is a new non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor. We studied that avibactam, sulbactam, clavulanic acid, tazobactam, and quercetin natural flavonoids were docked to target protein CTX-M-15. Subsequently, the complexes were simulated using the molecular dynamics simulations method during 100 ns …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Spectrophotometric monitoring of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) reduction by sodium borohydride (NaBH4) using gold nanoparticles (GNPs) as a catalyst has been extensively studied, but the stability of GNPs in terms of change in the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) at different temperatures has not been explored. In the present investigation, our aim was to evaluate the SPR stability of GNPs as a catalyst during the reduction of 4-NP at different elevated temperatures (i.e. 30-60 °C) and sodium borohydride concentrations. Sensitivity of this degradation process toward concentration of GNPs at a range of temperatures is also evaluated. The spectrophotometric results reveal that up to …

A New Electrochemical Impedance Biosensor Based On Aromatic Thiol For Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Determination, Hülya Yağar, Hakki Mevlüt Özcan, Osman Mehmet

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Alpha-1 antitrypsin (A1AT) is one of the acute phase proteins which are synthesized in the liver. A1AT inhibits the activity of many proteases, but its main task is to protect the lungs from the attack of neutrophil elastase. In an autosomal hereditary disease known as alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, the A1AT level in blood serum decreases, increasing the risk of developing emphysema, liver apoptosis, and liver cancer. Thus, the detection of A1AT concentration in blood serum is very important. In this study, an impedimetric biosensor was developed, forming an SAM (self-assembled monolayer) with 4-mercaptophenylacetic acid (4MPA) on the surface of the …

Herein, an adsorptive stripping linear sweep voltammetric technique was described to determine spiramycin, a macrolide antibiotic, using a carboxylic multiwalled glassy carbon electrode modified with carbon nanotubes. The main principle of the analytical methodology proposed was based on the preconcentration of spiramycin by open-circuit accumulation of the macrolide onto the modified electrode surface. As a result of the adsorption affinity of spiramycin to the modified surface, the sensitivity of the glassy carbon electrode was significantly increased for the determination of spiramycin. The electrochemical behavior of spiramycin was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and the irreversible anodic peak observed was measured as …
