This study aims to determine the relationship between Social Skills and Use Gadgets Smartphone with Student Achievement SMA Negeri 9 Malang. This research is descriptive corelational. Total population of this study were 316 students with a total sample of 84 students. The sample selection using questionnaires and Likers scale and documentation in the form of report cards. Test requirements analysis using normality test and test linier. The analytical method used is multiple regression analysis. This development reaserch aims to produce sociodramas manual to increase the value of social care junior high school students theoretically and practically acceptable. This research method adapted the Borg and Gall procedural model covering the planning stage, the stage of product development and test phase of the product. Design test is test material experts and drama experts, potential users test products and test a small group. These products meet very precise criteria, very useful, very easy and very attractive to mean very feasible to use. It can be concluded that the guidelines have been grateful sociodramas theoretically and practically.

This research aims to describe the characteristics and metacognition of high school counselors. The type of research used is descriptive with a survey method. The research subjects were 166 school counselors. The research results show that the counseling process has not fully implemented metacognition-based counseling skills. This indicates that in implementing counseling, counselors have not taken into account the effectiveness of intrapersonal skills as an integrated skill within the counselor.

The purpose of this narrative study was to explore the experiences of African-American males in academic leadership positions at public predominately White institutions in North Carolina. Four African-American males in academic leadership positions that met the selection criteria were purposefully selected for the study. For the sake of confidentiality a pseudonym was used for the participants and universities to protect their privacy. Multiple data collection and analytical methods were utilized to document the experiences and voices of the participants. The author describes two models, CEC Practice Study Manual (2008) and the National Standards Report (National Autism Center, 2009), for evaluating interventions as evidence-based practices (EBP) in autism, and compares and contrasts their features. The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of what motivated college students—the Unplugged Students—to intentionally use their cell phones less and how they understood the impact that unplugging had on their interpersonal relationships and college experience. Nine undergraduate college students from four private schools were interviewed in one-on-one semi- structured interviews. These students, considered non-users, provided a particularly useful perspective as these students made a conscious choice to counteract social norms and experienced both being plugged in and unplugged. In 2013, The Director of Student Support Services for the San Lorenzo Unified School District (SLZUSD) implemented a Restorative Practices program in an effort to improve relationships on campus and decrease suspension and expulsion rates in SLZUSD. The Directors push for RP was fueled by the passing of Assembly Bill 1729 (AB-1729), when the California Education Code changed to allow for alternative disciplinary actions. States nationwide have passed bills similar to AB-1729 and allowed schools to use alternative punitive practices. Overview

This report discusses the importance of educational attainment for the underserved community, particularly for youth raised in or near San Francisco’s Tenderloin. It identifies the reasons why low-income, first-generation students have trouble matriculating into college, and considers the current efforts that address this issue.

Based on the literature and the data analyzed, De Marillac Academy’s Graduate Support Program staff designed and implemented the Summer Support Workshop, a pilot program intended to assist high school graduates as they transition into post-secondary life. This paper presents the research and the findings that support the project’s development.

Professional School Counselor Perceptions Of Systemic Barriers Affecting Latino Students: Implications For Socially Just Preparation And Practice, Cassandra A. Storlie, Russell B. Toomey

Journal of Counselor Preparation and Supervision

Systemic barriers contribute to academic underachievement and oppression among marginalized students, particularly those from Latino decent. Qualitative survey responses from 158 professional school counselors, working in the six U.S. states with the highest populations of Latinos, were analyzed by the constant comparative method. Three overarching themes resulted. Social justice implications for professional school counselors and counselors-in-training that support the academic, personal/social and career development of Latino students are provided.

Adolescence is a crucial life stage involving aspects of identity development and decision-making that have potential life-long consequences. A sense of meaning is related to many beneficial factors during adolescence, including psychological health, academic engagement, and overall well-being. This qualitative interview study was designed to investigate middle school counselors’ perspectives and practices regarding exploring meaning with their early adolescent students. Analysis of ten individual interviews and a focus group revealed that the school counselor participants did engage in work with middle school students around meaning-making.
