As dean of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, I have the privilege of witnessing firsthand how transformative legal education can be—not only for individual students, but also for the communities and institutions they go on to serve.

But there’s a problem: many promising undergraduate students have been told, explicitly or implicitly, that law school isn’t for them. Some don’t have anyone to turn to for advice and guidance.

Some have been discouraged from considering legal education because their backgrounds don’t fit the traditional mold of what society envisions an attorney to be. Maybe they are first-generation students and …

Gadget addiction is often associated with poor social interaction skills, anxiety, and physical health. However, few studies have addressed the issue of gadget addiction in early childhood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a family counseling model that internalizes values from ancient Javanese texts to reduce gadget addiction in early childhood. The ancient Javanese text used was Kakawin Sutasoma, which describes the meaningful journey of Prince Sutasoma. This study was an experiment with a single-subject ABA design. Career Advising Utilization: A Quantitative Archival Analysis Of Student Engagement Across Academic Levels And Colleges At A Southeast University, Edward Raimundi

This quantitative ex-post facto study examined patterns of career advising utilization at a large, R1 public university in the southeastern region of the United States. Institutional advising data from the 2023–24 advising year was utilized to identify usage patterns across different demographics such as college affiliation and academic level. The descriptive stats from the archival data were used to measure topic distributions, undergraduate–graduate usage by college, and contact engagement. The sample size included over 35,000 students with 10 different college affiliation labels. Significant differences across advising usage in the different colleges were found during the study. Two quantitative and cross-sectional preliminary studies were conducted to address the issues of forgiveness in the context of the tendency to online game addiction among university students in Semarang, Indonesia. A forgiveness scale comprising three dimensions of forgiveness, including forgiveness of self, others, and situations, as well as two separate scales of the tendency to online game addiction, was used. Samples consisting of two groups of online gamers were obtained using a convenience sampling technique. Epistemological studies provide important insights into how counselors build their knowledge related to the helping relationship through epistemic styles. This study aims to describe the epistemology of the helping relationship in counseling. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used to explore the experiences of guidance and counseling teachers and students as research participants. Data were collected through the analysis of counseling documents and semi-structured interviews with guidance and counseling teachers as well as five counselee participants. This study aims to describe the ideal characteristics of a counselor based on the values contained in the Sanghyang Siksakandang Karesian (SSK) manuscript. A hermeneutic approach was employed to interpret the meaning of the text from the perspective of guidance and counseling grounded in local wisdom. The findings indicate that the concept of Rampes, mentioned 24 times in the manuscript, serves as the foundation for shaping a counselor’s professional, moral, and integrative character. Trauma can impact an individual’s ability to function in daily occupations and tasks (SAMHSA, 2014). Traumainformed care focuses on six principles in order to support individuals who have experienced trauma: safety; trustworthiness and transparency; peer support; collaboration and empowerment; choice; and cultural, historical, and gender sensitivity (SAMHSA, 2014). Incorporating these principles allows trauma-informed care to shift the focus from “what is wrong with you?” to “what happened to you?” (Sweeney et al., 2018). Prompting Progress: An Eight-Week Ai Literacy Cohort For Academic Advisors – A Program Evaluation Report, Leo S. Lo

As generative AI floods higher education, academic advisors—often the first humans students consult—must learn to partner with the technology, not compete with it. This eight-week, community-of-practice pilot at the University of New Mexico gave 15 advisors guided access to GPT-4 for degree planning, policy queries, and email drafting. Pre/post surveys showed familiarity rising from 2.50 to 3.50, overall AI-literacy from 2.71 to 3.90, and confidence from 3.07 to 4.00 on a 5-point scale. Workflow logs documented recruitment emails produced in minutes rather than hours. Participants highlighted ethical guard-rails as a new competency, not an afterthought. Young adults who age out of the foster care system face a unique set of challenges including increased risk of homelessness, substance use, mental health problems, and difficulty with employment. The current phenomenological study aims to understand participants’ experiences of Project P.A.T.H., a group psychoeducational group intervention aimed at improving self-efficacy, employment hope, and job search knowledge in individuals who were unemployed or underemployed and actively seeking employment. While mentoring traditionally supports professional and personal development, especially for early-career faculty, the Jesuit tradition offers a deeper, holistic perspective inspired by spiritual accompaniment practices such as those found in the Constitutions of the Society of Jesus and the Spiritual Exercises. Background: Integrating experiential therapy techniques with physical activity and nature improves aspects of self-concept: social connectedness, resilience, and healthy coping skills in the short-term for at-risk, underperforming youth (Kraft & Cornelius-White, 2020). Kraft and Cornelius-White (2020) found that wilderness therapy counselors that taught communication skills and prioritized “group cohesion in group therapy” led to positive “changes to self-concept” (p. 350-351). Among at-risk students between 2023/4-2024/5 cohorts (N=169), the cohort of 2024/25 had significantly higher COMLEX Level 1 pass rate than 2023/24 cohort (chi-square 4.8, p-0.03)

This qualitative study examines the experiences of Black males in New York City Men Teach (NYCMT), a diversity initiative designed to increase the representation of Black male educators. Despite efforts, Black men remain underrepresented in education. Drawing from narrative-inquiry and guided by Critical Race theory and the Radical Care framework, this research explores how participants experience NYCMT and what their stories reveal about the effectiveness of diversity initiatives. Data from Semi-structured interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis, revealing five key themes: community, financial benefits, mentoring, professional development, and challenges. The author used a combination of personality and career assessments to guide students into careers that were a good fit, not only for their interests but their temperaments as well.
