This quantitative study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of video prompting delivered via an iPad® in combination with a system of least-to-most prompting to teach individuals with intellectual disabilities the vocational task of rolling silverware. A single subject, multiple probe research design was used to determine whether there was a functional relationship between the use of video prompting and a system of least-to-most prompting and video prompting alone and the percentage of steps completed correctly in the task of rolling silverware. The purpose of this research paper is to address the challenges of instruction within a classroom whose census is a diverse mixture of student mathematical abilities. The diverse ability of low and high achieving students all required to master the different strands of mathematics creates problems for instructors and students to stay engaged and actively moving forward deepening and widening their knowledge base. Self-naming has long stood as the primary assertion of power for disenfranchised communities in the western world. While person first language (e.g. person who is deaf) has been the preferred language of disability and disability services for the last 20 years, members of the Deaf community have asserted their cultural capital, and indeed, their Deafhood, or defining the experience of being ‘deaf in the world’, through the power of self-naming. This research examines attitudes toward language, self-naming, and disability in the Deaf community and seeks to move toward a more attentive, sensitive, and responsive language policy in the academy.

This mixed methods study explored how the inclusion of literature on Autism Spectrum (AS) in a teacher education diversity class impacted students’ knowledge and perceptions of AS. Data from the intervention group found a positive shift in student perceptions of AS through the reading process. Rehabilitation Of People With Intellectual Disabilities In A Resource Poor District, Barwani, India: A Community-Based Approach, Ram Lakhan

Journal of Contemporary Research in Education

People with intellectual disabilities (ID) have several rehabilitation needs, which are difficult to address at one institution. Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) is one approach that provides services that meet their varied needs within their own communities. Objective of this research is to study a community-based rehabilitation program that provides comprehensive rehabilitation to people with ID in India. People with ID were identified through a door-to-door survey in 63 villages of the Barwani District. Patients received medical, educational, psychosocial, and vocational intervention by a CBR team. A total of 262 subjects, 140 tribal (53.4%), 122 non-tribal (46.6%) were categorized as borderline (5, …
