Based on Kellogg’s model of writing, this study investigated the effects of planning on fluency, complexity and accuracy in the narrative writings of average proficiency undergraduates. 30 Malaysian students undertook the task of writing a narrative with the aid of a set of pictures and writing prompt, under three different conditions. No planning (NP) participants were instructed to write without planning time but with limited writing time. Pre-task planning (PTP) participants were given limited planning and writing time. Within-task planning (WTP) participants had unlimited writing time but no planning time. Results indicated that pre-task planning was beneficial in increasing fluency …

This study analyzed pragmatically on the usage of Malay Language in classrooms’ question-answer contexts. The study focused on main question-answer strategies used by the lecturers and the students of Ungku Omar Polytechnic during five sampled sessions of teaching and learning. This research report explicitly revealed some significantly unique sequences of question-answer throughout the whole data, to be analyzed based on Searle’s felicity conditions specified in the Speech Act Theory (1969). Information and communication technology literacy is increasingly referred to as the fourth literacy. However, it is neither as well understood nor as readily assessed as reading, writing, and arithmetic. This paper argues that better understanding and more effective measurement of ICT literacy are needed to gauge readiness to both pursue higher education and enter the workforce. The paper builds on existing definitions of ICT literacy by introducing a model that extends the dimensionality of the construct. Increasingly movies are being produced which feature plots that incorporate elements of computer security and hacking, and cumulatively these movies are creating a public perception as to the nature of computer security. This research examines movies that feature hackers (and hacking) to identify if any common themes emerge from these movies in their representation of these issues. The most important application of glow discharges is probably in microelectronic industry, and material technology.
