Non-prototypical CEOs are those that process different demographic characteristics from a target reference group. In the US, a non-prototypical CEO is both white and male. While the negative responses to non-prototypical leaders based on race and gender have been well documented, we know less on what these leaders do that may influence biased evaluations. In this dissertation I took an impression management view to examine analysts’ evaluative bias (AEB) on prototypical and non-prototypical CEOs hiding linguistic behaviors and competitive aggressiveness. This research aimed to ascertain whether the organizations operating in Saudi Arabia are implementing work environment standards. The study adopted mixed research methods to realize this aim by collecting data from both secondary and primary sources. The secondary data were quantitative and collected from credible internet sources, while primary data were qualitative. The population sample consisted of 12 employees from four different companies implying three participants for every company. Most state rules of substantive law, whether legislative or judicial, ordinarily adjust rights and obligations among local parties with respect to local events. Conventional choice of law methodologies for adjudicating disputes with multistate connections all start from an explicit or implicit assumption of a choice between such locally oriented substantive rules. Measuring Transformational Leadership, Employee Engagement, And Employee Productivity: Retail Stores, Shamika Schumane Desilva

Retail stores are less profitable because of poor productivity from disengaged employees. Retail store leaders must prioritize employee productivity, as low productivity can negatively impact business performance with financial consequences. Grounded in transformational leadership theory and the theory of work engagement, the purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between transformational leadership, employee engagement, and employee productivity in retail stores. Survey responses were collected from 119 nonmanagerial employees in the retail sector in the eastern United States. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis indicated the model was statistically significant, F(7, 112) = 35.149, p < .01, R2 = .69. The only two significant individual predictors were individual consideration (t = 4.10, p < .01) and vigor (t = 5.36, p < .01). A key recommendation is for retail store leaders to enact strategies promoting vigor- employees who work with high energy and effort levels, and to employ a transformational leadership style, particularly showing employees individualized consideration. Creating such a positive working environment for employees will improve their productivity. Implications for positive social change include the potential for retail managers to increase competitiveness for retail stores. The success of retail businesses, driven by improved worker productivity, may ensure financial stability for workers, families, and communities.

As educators we strive to facilitate knowledge and ways of learning that serve students throughout their lives, but we also recognize their sometimes short retention span. The innovation we present in this article consists of the use of digital storytelling as a conduit for students to construct a narrative of their experience in a marketing simulation throughout the semester. We explain the innovation’s implementation as well as the results observed throughout the years in the digital stories developed by students. Finally, we discuss further applications of this innovation in other courses and future research avenues.

The goal of corporate spin-offs, as a corporate restructuring technique, is to create better value for both the divesting firm and its subsidiary/ division. These corporate transactions lead to the creation of independent, publicly traded entities, which are called spun-off subsidiaries. In this study, we examine the effect of board independence and directors’ industry experience on the market performance of spun-off subsidiaries by setting two main hypotheses. Our sample includes 123 completed U.S.-based spin-off events during a 14-year long time frame. Gossip is a behavior that has been traditionally viewed as harmful in organizations. However, a more balanced perspective has emerged in recent years that suggests gossip can have important benefits. We propose that one way to uncover potential benefits of gossip in teams is to focus on the valence (positive or negative nature) of the gossip. Drawing on expectancy theory, we propose team gossip indirectly influences team performance through social loafing because it plays a key role in shaping beliefs about effort in team contexts; effects determined by team gossip valence.
