This study evaluated the Every Kid in a Park program to understand recreation and the contextual interaction between family resources, race, and recreation costs in families with young children. Using a large, nationally representative data sample from the American Time Use Survey (N = 5,119), we analyzed changes over time in recreation patterns of different socioeconomic groups before and after the initiation of the Every Kid in a Park program of the United States National Park Service. We found that free admission corresponded with overall increased frequency of hiking with a child for individuals in affected households. Changes in hiking …

We conducted a focused search of nine pre-determined leisure journals to (1) determine the prevalence and scope of research on children younger than 6 years (i.e., young children) published in leisure- focused outlets, (2) describe study designs and research methods used to study this age group, (3) tabulate definitions of child leisure, and (4) provide an overview of the studies’ findings. Overall, findings indicate a marked absence of young children from leisure research. Only 28 articles in almost half a century of leisure journal publications met inclusion criteria. Research on family communication in the leisure context has been limited to retrospective survey reconstructions of perceptions of communication patterns. This study examines the validity of sociometric badges for measuring family communication in real-time. Seven families (married, two-parent families with at least one child ages 4–17 years) wore sociometric badges during a 30-minute leisure activity in a lab setting. We compared mean badge estimates of family communication duration to mean coded video data from the same 30-minute sessions. Intraclass correlation coefficients indicated sociometric badges are not as reliable as video-coded estimates of speech; however, among parents, non-significant mean comparisons partially …

This article, adapted from the 2019 Butler Lecture at the NRPA National Research session, provides an overview of the origins, development, and potential future trajectory of the field of leisure research. Economic and societal trends of the last few decades may signal the need for the field to intentionally transition its focus on leisure as a context to leisure as an experience. More specifically the field needs to actively consider how insights gained from 60 years of research on leisure experiences can be applied to contexts beyond leisure. Experience design is a term that has risen to the forefront in a variety of professional fields and has relevance for the field of park and recreation. Park and recreation professionals are primarily focused on providing experiences and thus could naturally consider themselves experienced designers. Surprisingly, experience design is not a topic often discussed within park and recreation publications or curriculum. We introduce a new experience design tool, an experience journey map, to assist youth professionals in planning engagement, immersion, and absorption activities. Experience journey maps are based on customer journey maps, which are widely used in business service design. This new approach highlights strategies for engendering deep structured experiences during the activity. An experience journey map is a matrix of columns and rows. Columns represent the sequence of activity stages. Rows are experience-structuring strategies derived from the theory of structured experience. การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการวางตำแหน่งของตราสินค้า คุณค่าของตราสินค้า และภาพลักษณ์ของตราสินค้า และการประชาสัมพันธ์ที่มีความสัมพันธ์ต่อ แนวโน้มในการเลือกเชียร์สโมสรไฮเทค บาสเกตบอล โดยใช้แบบสอบถามออนไลน์เป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่เป็นแฟนบาสเกตบอลสโมสรไฮเทค จำนวน 400 คน โดยทำการกระจายแบบสอบถามออนไลน์ (Google Form) ผ่านทาง Inbox Page Facebook ของสโมสรไฮเทค ให้กับผู้กดติดตาม และนำข้อมูลที่ได้มาวิเคราะห์หาค่าร้อยละ ค่าส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์แบบเพียร์สัน จากการศึกษาระดับความคิดเห็นของกลุ่มตัวอย่างพบว่า การวางตำแหน่งของตราสโมสรไฮเทค ภาพลักษณ์ของตราสโมสรไฮเทค คุณค่าของตราสินค้าสโมสรไฮเทค และแนวโน้มในการเลือกเชียร์สโมสรไฮเทค ในภาพรวมมีความคิดเห็นอยู่ในระดับมาก ส่วนความคิดเห็นต่อการประชาสัมพันธ์ทางกีฬาในภาพรวมมีความคิดเห็นอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ส่วนผลการทดสอบสมมติฐานพบว่า การวางตำแหน่งของตัวสโมสร (r = 0.533) ภาพลักษณ์ของตราสโมสรไฮเทค (r = 0.676) คุณค่าของตราสโมสรไฮเทค (r = 0.705) และการประชาสัมพันธ์ทางกีฬา (r = 0.710) มีความสัมพันธ์ต่อแนวโน้มในการเลือกเชียร์สโมสรไฮเทคของแฟนทีม อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05

This study investigates determinants of Egyptian SMEs financial failure predictability based on a sample of 32 failure SMEs and 28 non-failure SMEs for the period 2013 and 2019. The determinants of SMEs financial failure are categorized into four groups; Working Capital, Asset Structure, Liquidity, and Leverage. The factor and logistic regression analysis are employed to identify the most significant independent variables that classify between failure and none-failure Egyptian’s SMEs and determine the driver of SMEs financial failure. Scholars have documented the research tradeoffs of using ecological momentary assessments (EMA) to study daily life. Less is known about participants’ perspectives. The aim of this research note was to delineate the challenges of participating in a 14-day EMA study of family leisure described by 41 individuals (mothers, fathers, and adolescents) from 14 families to inform future family leisure studies using EMA. Participants identified three potential challenges: repetitive questions, inconvenient signals, and short response windows. Research Design: The dataset for this retrospective study was retrieved from the Scopus database. There are four papers within this work. This purpose of the first paper is to measure the impact that healthy behaviors have on the rate of PTB when modeled with other factors like household demographics, community deprivation, chronic disease and mental health. This work finds that positive health behaviors has a negative relationship with PTB. Sharia Supervisory Board Reports (SSBRs) have an interest in convincing the public that entities supervised by a Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) are sharia-compliant and reflective of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) practices. Failure in public convincing will be detrimental to Islamic banks’ reputation as well as the SSB’s image and credibility. This study aimed to critically assess how the SSB produces reports as texts to persuade the public using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA).
